According to statistics, there are currently 68 establishments in the province producing and trading forestry seedlings. Every year, these establishments produce tens of millions of seedlings to supply markets within and outside the province.
According to the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, implementing Decree No. 27/2021 of the Government on management of forestry plant varieties; Circular No. 22/2021 of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Dak Nong has strengthened the management of production and trading activities of plant varieties and forestry plant varieties in the province.
In 2022, the Provincial People's Committee issued Directive No. 10 directing the management of production and trading activities of plant varieties and forestry plant varieties. The Directive has created a new step forward for the management of forestry plant varieties in the province.

Mr. Le Quang Dan, Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, said that the key content that the department focuses on promoting is to strictly control the origin and quality of forestry seeds at forestry seed production and trading establishments in localities.
The Department of Agriculture and Rural Development regularly guides and urges the People's Committees of districts and cities to propagate and develop plans to inspect the production and trading activities of forestry varieties.
The unit promptly detects and strictly handles violations of regulations on the production and trading of forestry plant varieties. Therefore, functional sectors and localities increasingly ensure quality forestry plant varieties for afforestation, scattered tree planting, and agroforestry.

In addition, every year the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development strictly controls afforestation work, guides and inspects forest owners in selecting and using forest planting varieties to ensure compliance with regulations.
According to the general assessment of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, up to now, basically, the forestry varieties used for forest planting have met the requirements on origin of the varieties. Forestry varieties in the province have gradually become organized and have achieved positive results.
The quantity and quality of forestry varieties basically meet the needs for sustainable forest development, proactive adaptation to climate change and increased value per unit area.
The situation of production and trading of forestry varieties without business registration certificates and label violations has decreased. The buying and selling process has clear invoices and origins.
Therefore, the forest plantation areas in the province currently show no signs of decline in quality. The average forest plantation area reaches over 80%, some localities are higher such as Dak Glong.

At the same time, the functional sector of Dak Nong province actively coordinates with organizations and units to preserve and develop valuable genetic resources of forestry seedlings.
Typically, in early 2024, the Provincial Forest Protection Department recognized the source of forestry seedlings for 101 long-lived core trees in Krong No district. The type of seed source is the dominant tree (mother tree) used to produce seedlings for afforestation.

This is a quite important step showing the province's interest in native forestry trees with many superior characteristics in afforestation and forest economic development.
This will also create better conditions for households, cooperatives, cooperative groups, and communities in localities to promote afforestation. The agricultural sector and localities are making efforts to successfully build large-scale timber growing areas, concentrated in Dak Glong, Krong No, and Tuy Duc districts.
Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Quan, Nam Tien village, Nam Nung commune, Krong No district said that the core longevity tree is recognized as a forestry seedling and is a great advantage for his family in planting forests on a large area. Currently, his family has over 10 hectares of forest planted with this type of tree.
