Hitler's pencil to be auctioned

The Guardian newspaper reported on May 29 that a silver-plated pencil belonging to Nazi leader Adolf Hitler is about to be auctioned in Belfast, Northern Ireland, with an estimated price of 50,000 - 80,000 pounds (1.45 - 2.32 billion VND).
The pencil is said to have been a gift from his longtime girlfriend Eva Braun to Hitler on his 52nd birthday on April 20, 1941.
The pen, engraved with the German word "Eva" and the two letters "AH," was originally purchased by a collector at an auction in 2002.
The sale of historical items by Bloomfield Auctions in Belfast on 6 June will also include an original signed photograph of Hitler and a rare handwritten copy of Queen Victoria's 1869 pardon of Irish rebels convicted of treason.
Karl Bennett, chief executive of the auction house, said they expected the sale to attract interest from around the world .
"The importance of Hitler's personal pencil lies in the fact that it helps to shed light on a hidden part of history, providing a unique insight into Hitler's personal relationships, which he was careful to keep hidden from the public," according to Mr Bennett.
Mr Bennett said careful research and discussion with the seller of the item, "gives me the confidence to tell people that what I'm selling is authentic".

This expert believes that for collectors of military items, they preserve a part of the past and should be considered historical objects, regardless of whether the history they refer to is one of the darkest and most controversial.
Braun first met Hitler at the age of 17 and began a long-term relationship, before marrying on April 29, 1945, in a simple ceremony, less than 40 hours after they committed suicide together amid the collapse of Nazi Germany. It was not until later that many people learned about their relationship.
