The third kidney transplant at Vietnam Sweden Uong Bi Hospital was discharged

After more than 2 weeks of kidney transplant surgery at Vietnam - Sweden Uong Bi Hospital, on May 28, the 27-year-old female patient was discharged in stable health condition, with kidney function indicators returning to normal. This is the 3rd kidney transplant, marking the success in implementing the new treatment method at the hospital.

Before the kidney transplant, the patient was diagnosed with end-stage renal failure. At such a young age, having to undergo regular dialysis is not only a great physical and mental challenge, but also a financial burden for the whole family.

When she learned that her daughter had this disease, the mother volunteered to register for screening and donated a kidney to save her child.

The kidney transplant was performed under the direct guidance and professional support of experts from Viet Duc Friendship Hospital, along with close coordination between departments in Vietnam - Sweden Uong Bi Hospital, including: Nephrology, Nephrology - Urology, Anesthesia, Intensive Care...

Immediately after surgery, the patient was monitored and given special care in the Department of Surgical Intensive Care. Renal function indicators improved significantly and returned to normal after a few days. Notably, the patient did not experience acute rejection reactions and was able to eat and move normally within a short time.

After discharge, patients will continue to be monitored regularly according to the post-transplant treatment regimen, including anti-rejection drugs and regular kidney function tests during the first months.

The successful implementation of 3 consecutive kidney transplants has affirmed the professional capacity and high-tech development vision of Vietnam - Sweden Uong Bi Hospital. The hospital is currently actively preparing the necessary conditions to be ready to perform kidney transplants for 15 cases that have been designated for kidney transplants according to plan.
