After finishing the recording at 4am, Bui Anh Tuan sat down and cried because he sympathized with the lyrics.

The song's title was inspired by a scene in the work. The five children were far from home and rarely returned home to see their mother, so what Mrs. Hai wanted was a complete family photo. She had to cut out each individual photo of her children and combine them into one picture.

At first, musician Bim had difficulty finding a suitable voice. Assessing Bui Anh Tuan's clear, lyrical voice, the crew invited him and sent him a demo. Before recording, the singer went to director Ly Hai's house and talked to him about the script to better understand the message the film wanted to convey. After listening to Bui Anh Tuan's recording, the author commented that his performance was "almost perfect".

Sharing with PV Dan Viet , Bui Anh Tuan said that he deeply sympathized with the lyrics and the film, because he himself was loved and cared for by his mother. Bui Anh Tuan's mother accompanied him from the first days he competed in The Voice of Vietnam 2012, then she became his manager, staying by his side all the time. Commenting on Bui Anh Tuan, director Ly Hai shared with PV Dan Viet that he and musician Bim both agreed that this was a wise choice, because the 9X singer performed Re-drawing the Mother's Painting with sincerity and emotion. The crew went through a difficult process of finding a singer to perform the film's soundtrack. The name Bui Anh Tuan came to them by chance.
