According to the Drug Administration of Vietnam, recently, the COVID-19 epidemic has shown signs of increasing again in some provinces and cities.
In the face of the complicated developments of the COVID-19 epidemic, in order to promptly respond and ensure the supply of drugs for disease prevention and control, the Drug Administration of Vietnam requests pharmaceutical production and trading units to increase the supply of drugs and pharmaceutical ingredients.
At the same time, proactively contact medical examination and treatment facilities to grasp the needs, develop drug production and business plans to ensure timely supply of COVID-19 treatment drugs and essential drugs for treatment of patients.
Special focus on symptomatic treatment drugs, respiratory support drugs, emergency resuscitation drugs... according to regulations issued by the Ministry of Health on COVID-19 diagnosis and treatment guidelines, ensuring continuous supply, avoiding local drug shortages or supply interruptions.
In cases where drugs are in short supply, the Drug Administration will prioritize the quick resolution of the issuance of circulation registration certificates and import licenses to promptly supply drugs to medical examination and treatment facilities upon request from the units.
In Vietnam, the Ministry of Health said that since the beginning of the year, Vietnam has recorded about 700 COVID-19 cases scattered in 39 provinces and cities, with no deaths. Recently, the number of cases has tended to increase slightly.
Gene sequencing results show that the new variant NB.1.8.1 accounts for the majority of patient samples in Ho Chi Minh City, especially in cases hospitalized in the third week of May. This is also the variant that is appearing in many countries around the world .
Although no concentrated outbreaks have been recorded, according to the Ministry of Health's assessment, as summer vacation approaches, the demand for travel and tourism increases, leading to large crowds at tourist, entertainment, and public places, increasing the risk of disease transmission.
Therefore, it is not impossible to rule out the possibility of an increase in cases in our country in the coming time. However, there may not be an increase in severe cases due to variants of the SARS-CoV-2 virus.
5 most important measures to protect yourself and the community:
1. Wear a mask in public places, public transport, and medical facilities.
2. Limit large gatherings, especially in closed spaces.
3. Wash your hands frequently with soap or sanitizer.
4. Increase exercise and eat nutritious food to improve resistance.
5. If you have fever, cough, or difficulty breathing, go to the nearest medical facility for examination.
