On the afternoon of June 23, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh chaired a national in-person and online conference to review the work of combating smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods in the first 6 months of the year, directions and tasks for the last months of 2025; and summarize the peak period of fighting, preventing and repelling smuggling, trade fraud, counterfeit goods and infringement of intellectual property rights (from May 15 to June 15).

According to the report of the National Steering Committee 389, in the first 6 months of 2025, units and localities nationwide have organized inspections, arrested and handled more than 50,700 cases of smuggling, trade fraud, counterfeit goods and tax fraud; collected more than 6,500 billion VND for the state budget; prosecuted nearly 1,900 cases (up 188.46% over the same period last year), with 3,235 defendants. In the peak month, units and localities arrested and handled more than 10,400 cases of smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods (up 80.51% over the previous peak month); collected nearly 1,300 billion VND for the state budget (up 258.43% over the previous peak month); temporarily seized goods and exhibits worth an estimated more than 4,075 billion VND; prosecuted more than 200 cases with 378 defendants.

In Khanh Hoa, during the peak month, authorities discovered 206 violations of trading and transporting prohibited goods, smuggled goods, trade fraud, tax fraud, and counterfeit goods; collected over 16.2 billion VND for the budget; and prosecuted 1 subject.

Speaking at the conference, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh highly appreciated the efforts of ministries, branches, localities and functional forces who have actively and proactively taken professional measures, promptly detected, arrested and strictly handled violations of the law related to smuggling, trade fraud, counterfeit goods, and infringement of intellectual property rights within their authority, contributing to stabilizing the market, protecting the rights and interests of businesses and consumers, ensuring security and order, and serving the country's socio -economic development. The Prime Minister directed that in the coming time, relevant agencies and units continue to step up the fight, prevent and repel smuggling, trade fraud, counterfeit goods, and infringement of intellectual property rights, especially fake medicines, fake milk and fake health food; Continue to review difficulties and obstacles to propose timely amendments, supplements and replacements, gradually perfecting institutions and legal regulations to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of anti-smuggling and anti-trade fraud work. At the same time, promote propaganda, education and dissemination of laws to organizations, individuals and people to contribute to raising awareness and compliance with legal regulations; widely publicize hotlines, ensuring timely collection of reports from people and businesses on smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods... People's Committees of provinces and cities should promptly complete the local Steering Committee 389 after merging provinces and cities and implementing the 2-level local government model to advise and direct the effective implementation of anti-smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods work...
