Singer is not responsible

According to Variety reported on June 29, a jury in Houston, Texas, USA ruled that Travis Scott and the organizers of the Astroworld music festival should not be charged with any crime after the chaotic concert that left 10 people dead and more than 4,900 injured in October 2021.

Scott's attorney, Kent Schaffer, told Variety that his client will not be charged with any criminal or wrongdoing related to the Astroworld festival.

“Today’s decision by the Harris County District Attorney confirms what we have long been certain. Travis Scott is not responsible for the Astroworld tragedy. This ruling is consistent with investigative media reporting and reporting by the federal and state governments ,” the attorney told Variety.

Travis Scott's lawyer said the singer hopes everything is closed, the government focuses on preventing a heartbreaking tragedy like Astraworld from happening again.

The Astroworld Festival had more than 50,000 spectators and the aisles were narrow. At a press conference after the tragedy, Samuel Peña, the fire chief, said the crowd kept rushing towards the stage, causing chaos at around 9 p.m.

Travis Scott - the lead singer of the concert - repeatedly asked for a pause, asking the security team to rescue him. Although the fire department was present, they could not disperse the crowd behind them, which kept rushing forward. They tried to rescue the injured in vain. As a result, 10 people died and nearly 5,000 were injured.

Following the incident, Scott and Live Nation, the company behind Astroworld, faced billions of dollars in damages from hundreds of lawsuits filed by people who claimed that the organizers’ negligence led to the deaths and injuries that led to the tragedy. Since the incident, Travis Scott has denied all allegations and wants the lawsuit dismissed.
