Tung Duong wants to challenge himself
On the afternoon of November 5, singer Tung Duong introduced a new album titled Vol.1: The Voice - Timeless . The product is a collection of immortal love songs recorded in vinyl format. He explained that the album name consists of two parts, meaning the parallel of Tung Duong's voice with immortal love songs that transcend time.
If in the albums Human, Multiverse, Tung Duong freely explores new, pioneering musical spaces, then in Vol.1: The Voice - Timeless , He returned to minimalism and narrative so that the beauty in the voice and song could flourish.
The album includes 8 songs, which are timeless pieces of music such as: Alone, Lonely, Regretful, The Traveler's Heart, Separated in a Corner of the Sky, Footprints of Paradise, Lullaby for Me , and Lifetime of Love.
These songs have had countless versions recorded and performed before, associated with big names in the Vietnamese music industry, even contributing to creating schools in the way of performing old music, immortal music. However, Tung Duong said he did not let himself be swept away by established styles, but created new emotional spaces. The songs still bring a different Tung Duong through the spirit he wants to convey through each song.

The male singer shared: "Tung Duong has changed a lot before, very strong, passionate. But this time I challenged myself, singing simply, without embellishment or too many interventions. Of course, I cannot sing old music in the style of Tuan Ngoc, because that is a monument of old music, with its own school. As for me, I follow the musical thinking, with the way of feeling of my generation. This album can be called "back to basic" when we want to bring the audience back to the most original things."
'Singing out of tune or out of tune is what makes a person'
With this album, the singer of Rebirth expressed his desire to honor the works and authors, while highlighting the role of the orchestra, who helped the singer shine. The special feature of this album is that it was recorded using analog technology, not using the currently popular digital method.
"Even in the digital music era, we still crave to find the beauty and spirit of originality and simplicity. When we hold the product in our hands, we are only temporarily satisfied, but not yet satisfied. Because somewhere there are still a few errors. For example, there are a few notes that are a bit too fresh, or a bit too young, but I still decide to keep them as they are, without any digital impact. But I believe that sometimes singing out of tune, "singing too loudly" is human, and being too perfect becomes... AI. I also don't like perfection, because there must be something incomplete to strive for," he said.

Tung Duong said he was not 100% satisfied with the new product.

The male singer said that for each song, he records it completely from beginning to end, recording 4-5 times and then choosing the best version, instead of relying on digital technology to correct mistakes. Each time he goes into the studio, he can record several songs, but only chooses to record one song per day to ensure the best quality.
The project's music director is musician Hong Kien. He brings a multi-colored musical space on a seemingly monochromatic background, from gentle semi-classical to a bit of improvisational jazz and emotional funky/soul flavor. Musician Hong Kien said that making a vinyl record is of course difficult and making a product for Tung Duong is even more difficult, especially the pressure of choosing songs, finding arrangements and creating the overall shape of the album.
