The Dak Lak Department of Education and Training has issued a document allowing students in the entire province to stay home from school to ensure safety and prevent storm No. 13 Kalmaegi before it makes landfall.

On November 6, information from the Dak Lak Department of Education and Training said that the unit had issued a document on proactively letting students stay home from school to prevent and avoid storm No. 13 Kalmaegi.

Accordingly, all educational institutions in Dak Lak province will allow students to stay home from the afternoon of November 6 to the end of November 7 to proactively prevent and avoid the storm.

In the following days, depending on the weather situation, heads of educational institutions will proactively let students stay home from school; not organize teaching and educational activities for students when weather conditions and facilities do not ensure safety for students and teachers. During the school break, educational institutions will arrange for leaders to be on duty according to regulations.

Notably, when there are unusual incidents, the units proactively report to local authorities and the Dak Lak Department of Education and Training for guidance and direction on handling.

According to the announcement of Dak Lak Hydrometeorological Station, from 3am to 9am on November 6, the whole province will be cloudy with scattered showers and rainfall under 20mm.

From noon on November 6 to the end of November 7, the whole province will have heavy to very heavy rain and thunderstorms. Rainfall in the east of Dak Lak is generally from 200 - 300 mm, in some places over 400 mm; in the west from 80 - 150 mm, in some places over 200 mm. Heavy rain will be concentrated on the night of November 6 and the morning of November 7.

Heavy rain is forecast to cause flooding in low-lying areas and localized flooding in urban areas. Localities need to be on guard against the risk of landslides in areas with steep terrain and weak geological foundations. In addition, thunderstorms accompanied by whirlwinds, lightning, and strong winds can cause roofs to be blown off, trees to fall, and people and livestock to be injured.
