Taiwanese electrical and electronic enterprises interested in investing in Hai Phong
This is the third time in Hai Phong that the Taiwan (China) Electrical and Electronic Enterprises Association has come to work and conduct field surveys at industrial parks in the city.
On May 23, the Hai Phong Economic Zone Management Board organized an investment promotion program with nearly 50 enterprises belonging to the Taiwan Electromechanical and Electronics Enterprises Association (TEEMA). This is the largest business association in Taiwan (China) with more than 3,000 members including large corporations in the electronics and semiconductor sectors.
Informing businesses, Mr. Le Trung Kien, Head of the Hai Phong Economic Zone Management Board said: “In the past 2 years, especially after the investment promotion conferences held in Taiwan, direct investment capital from Taiwan has grown very strongly. Up to now, Hai Phong has attracted more than 2 billion USD from Taiwan with the presence of many large corporations such as Pegatron, USI, Liteon. The above results are clear evidence that Hai Phong is a successful destination for investors, especially Taiwanese investors”.

In 2023, Hai Phong will continue to achieve GRDP growth of more than 10.34%, industrial production growth of 15% and rank second in the country in attracting foreign investment with 3.6 billion USD. By the end of the first quarter of 2024, Hai Phong's GRDP increased by nearly 9.32%, 1.65 times higher than the national average, while industrial production increased by nearly 13%, Mr. Kien added.
At the meeting, the Hai Phong Economic Zone Management Board introduced the advantages of transport infrastructure, attractive incentive policies, orientation of using renewable energy towards sustainable development (ESG), strategy for developing the Southern ecological economic zone, programs connecting businesses with training facilities to develop high-quality human resources, policies to support workers (buying social housing, vocational training), answered questions and committed to creating the most favorable conditions for Taiwanese (Chinese) investors to implement projects in the city.
Hai Phong is actively implementing the construction of a new economic zone in the South of the city with the orientation of a green, ecological economic zone, closely following international trends on ESG: Environment - Society - Governance with special preferential policies, including a free trade zone.

Mr. Chen Hung Chin, Head of TEEMA delegation, thanked the Economic Zone Management Board for their continuous cooperation with TEEMA to expand information exchange activities, enhance learning and investment opportunities for member enterprises of the association. At the same time, he expressed his impression of the city's socio-economic development achievements as well as its potentials, advantages, and investment attraction policies. Above all, the companionship, attention, and support of the city's leaders and the Economic Zone Management Board for Taiwanese (Chinese) investors.
Previously, nearly 50 Taiwanese enterprises conducted field surveys at Nam Dinh Vu Industrial Park and Deep C Industrial Park in Hai Phong.
According to the Hai Phong Economic Zone Management Board, it is expected that in September 2024, a large-scale investment promotion conference will be held in Taiwan (China).
Up to now, the total FDI attraction of the city has been more than 960 projects from 42 countries and territories, with a total registered capital of more than 31 billion USD. With Taiwanese (China) partners alone, Hai Phong city has 65 investment projects with a total capital of more than 2 billion USD. Of which, 31 projects are located in industrial parks and economic zones with a total capital of nearly 2 billion USD.
Taiwanese (Chinese) enterprises operating in Hai Phong are in the fields of electronics and high technology, typically: Pegatron Vietnam Co., Ltd. (800 million USD); Universal Scientific Industrial Vietnam Co., Ltd. (215 million USD); Lite On Vietnam Co., Ltd. (89 million USD)... Taiwanese enterprises have made many positive contributions to Hai Phong with exports of nearly 2 billion USD in 2023 and created many stable jobs for people with an average income of over 11 million VND/person/month.
