Racing against time

At the Quang Ngai - Hoai Nhon expressway project, the consortium of contractors led by Deo Ca Group is rushing to complete the final items. Specifically, the 3.2km-long Binh De tunnel, which runs through the mountain range bordering Gia Lai and Quang Ngai provinces, has been completed.

Engineers and workers are focusing on cutting expansion joints in the concrete road surface, welding guardrails, applying final paint, and adjusting the jet fan system. On the approximately 10km section through the hilly area bordering Quang Ngai and Gia Lai provinces, two tunnels through the mountains, Huan Phong (0.7km) and Duc Pho (0.6km), have also been completed, ready for traffic to open...

At the intersection of the Hoai Nhon - Quy Nhon and Quy Nhon - Chi Thanh projects, remaining items are being completed, such as installing pillars and signs, reinforcing embankment slopes, and clearing the site. “The project passes through complex terrain, especially the Cu Mong pass area and the Ky Lo river bridge ( Dak Lak province), which is 1,984m long and requires very high technical standards.”

"Contractors are compensating for manpower, equipment, and construction crews to ensure the technical opening of the highway is on schedule," a representative of the Quy Nhon - Chi Thanh Expressway Management Board said.

The interchange connecting the Quy Nhon - Chi Thanh expressway to National Highway 1A has been completed, allowing traffic to enter through the Cu Mong tunnel (bordering Gia Lai and Dak Lak provinces).

In Dak Lak, component project 3 of the Khanh Hoa - Buon Ma Thuot Expressway Project, phase 1, is entering its "final sprint" phase. All officials, engineers, and workers on the construction site are working day and night, striving to achieve technical opening of the entire route by December 19, 2025.

Mr. Dang Tho Dan, Director of Component Project 3, said that as of early December, the volume of construction packages for the project had reached over 85% of the contract value. The entire route will be technically opened to traffic on December 19, 2025, and approximately 21km will be completed, inspected, and put into operation. The goal is to complete, inspect, and hand over the main route before February 14, 2026.

Meanwhile, at the beginning of the Khanh Hoa - Buon Ma Thuot expressway (component project 1), 20km of road surface paving has been completed. Construction teams are urgently installing median strips, fences, safety guardrails to reduce noise and glare, in preparation for the technical opening on December 19th...

Phase 1 of the Khanh Hoa - Buon Ma Thuot expressway project has a total investment of VND 21,935 billion and a total length of approximately 116.5 km. The project is divided into three sub-projects, of which sub-project 3 has a total length of over 48 km and a total investment of over VND 6,165 billion.

Prioritize quality and safety.

According to Mr. Bui Trong Lai, Executive Director of the Hoai Nhon - Quy Nhon and Quy Nhon - Chi Thanh expressway projects (total length over 131km), many contract packages were severely affected by Typhoon No. 13 and the recent historic floods. However, the focus on meeting the planned deadlines will not compromise quality and safety when the projects are put into operation.

Regarding the Quang Ngai - Hoai Nhon route project, Mr. Bui Nhat Hien, the project's Executive Director, also stated that the entire route has reached approximately 99% completion and is ready for technical traffic opening. The unit is urging the contractor to finalize the documentation and gather feedback from relevant agencies before submitting the traffic organization plan to the Vietnam Road Administration for approval.

The Binh De tunnel has completed its fire safety inspection and acceptance procedures. Simultaneously, to connect the Da Nang - Quang Ngai route with the Quang Ngai - Hoai Nhon route and avoid impacting the operator, the relevant units are finalizing the digital infrastructure and connecting to the non-stop toll collection system.

Regarding the Chi Thanh - Van Phong expressway section, Mr. Ho Xuan Thang, Deputy Director of Project Management Board 7, said that the project was delayed due to prolonged storms and floods. "Following the instructions of the Ministry of Construction, the unit is directing the contractor to excavate and remove the landslide-affected land and re-treat the road surface of the main route."

"The contractors are committed to striving for the technical opening of the entire project by December 31, 2025, and putting it into operation before January 31, 2026, to serve the travel needs during the Lunar New Year," Mr. Thang said.

* In Nghe An province, the Cua Lo deep-water port project (Hai Loc commune) is expected to commence construction with a total investment of over 9,000 billion VND, capable of accommodating ships of 100,000-200,000 DWT, playing a crucial role in regional connectivity by connecting with the Vinh - Thanh Thuy expressway.

* In Ha Tinh province, six projects are expected to commence construction with a total investment of over 128,552 billion VND. These include: Vinmetal Ha Tinh steel production plant, Ky Anh wind power plant, Eco Wind Ky Anh, and various urban and cultural projects.

In addition, the project to renovate and upgrade the intersection of National Highway 14B with the Da Nang - Quang Ngai Expressway in Ba Na commune, with a total capital of nearly 540 billion VND from the state budget, is also being implemented. The project to build a synchronized multi-level interchange, expand the bridge on the Hoa Lien - Tuy Loan route and its radial branches, ensuring smooth connectivity of the central region's main transportation artery, is also ready to commence.

In addition, Da Nang City commenced construction on two social housing projects in Zone B - Nam Cam Le Bridge Residential Area (Hoa Xuan Ward) with an area of nearly 26,000 square meters and a total investment of over 2,700 billion VND.

* In Gia Lai, it is expected that 8 projects will be started and 2 projects will be inaugurated, with a total capital of over 60,100 billion VND, including the Quy Nhon - Pleiku expressway; industrial-coastal connecting routes; the Artificial Intelligence (AI) research center and the An Khe biomass power plant.
