Top universities join RMIT to promote digital education

(Dan Tri) - Educators and managers from 12 leading educational institutions in Hanoi and Thai Nguyen attended a series of seminars organized by RMIT University Vietnam to learn practical strategies for digital transformation in the industry.

Following the success of activities with the higher education practice community in the digital age in Ho Chi Minh City since 2023, RMIT University recently brought a series of digital transformation seminars to Hanoi for the first time.

The program has the participation of 12 units, including Hanoi National University, Hanoi Pedagogical University, Hanoi University of Civil Engineering, National Academy of Public Administration, Thai Nguyen University of Technology, Asian Institute of Technology, Vietnam National Institute of Culture and Arts, Hanoi Open University.

Through three full-day workshops and a closing ceremony, the program offers participants the opportunity to engage with RMIT experts and develop skills and knowledge in using digital innovations in learning and teaching.

Combining lectures, interactive learning sessions and hands-on activities, the workshop series provides a comprehensive understanding of the role of digital innovation in improving lesson quality, increasing learner engagement and enhancing overall capacity in Vietnam’s higher education sector.

Attendees will have the opportunity to explore emerging areas such as generative AI applications, performance-based assessment in multimodal learning, and pedagogical innovation in internal training. Discussions and group activities will allow educators to share experiences from their organizations, including success stories as well as challenges and barriers.

“This is a valuable opportunity to gather and connect like-minded experts to discuss cutting-edge technologies and digital learning strategies that can transform the education sector for both teachers and learners. The journey certainly does not stop at this event, this is just the beginning,” said Associate Professor Seng Kiat Kok, Director of Students at RMIT Vietnam.

At the same time, he stressed that dialogue and sharing of good practices are crucial to promoting and facilitating academic excellence.

In addition to discussions on theoretical concepts, participants will also have the opportunity to develop a specific digital transformation plan for their organization using advanced teaching tools and methods.

Each participating unit shared its own approach to digital transformation, contributing to a diverse knowledge base that serves the interests of the entire education sector.

Ms. Doan Thi Thu Phuong, lecturer at the University of Foreign Languages, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, shared: "By participating in this series of workshops, I have gained a lot of information and knowledge about the fields of pedagogy and technology. I also learned a lot from the diverse perspectives of colleagues from other educational institutions."

“I hope this will continue to be a continuous series of activities that can benefit not only university lecturers and educators, but also students and future generations,” said Dao Manh Tuan from the Asian Institute of Technology.

The latest activities of the higher education community of practice in the digital age build on the pioneering initiative RMIT has undertaken since 2020.

The community of practice initiative reflects RMIT's "Turning knowledge into action" strategy, demonstrating the university's leading role in promoting digital transformation in education, and its commitment to strengthening academic networks between Vietnam and Australia.

Over the years, the initiative has continued to evolve to meet the changing needs of Vietnam’s higher education sector, while remaining focused on practical, achievable digital transformation solutions.
