With the advantage of physical strength, Lorenzo Musetti played better in set 1, always dominating and winning 6-4. In set 2, the Italian player continued to maintain stability but he suddenly made an unfortunate mistake.

In game 8 of set 2, Musetti led 30-15 but then lost 3 consecutive points due to unnecessary errors. Djokovic saved 1 break in the next game and he did not miss this precious break point to win set 2 with a score of 6-3.
In set 3, both players played with determination and many games lasted quite long. At the crucial moment, Musetti made a series of errors and Djokovic successfully broke in the deciding game, closing the set with a 7-5 victory.
Defeating Musetti after 3 sets with the scores of 4-6, 6-3, 7-5, Djokovic won the ATP 250 Athens Open 2025 and he won the 101st ATP title in his career, only 2 titles less than Roger Federer.
After the match, Djokovic said: “It was an unbelievable match, three hours of extreme physical hardship. The match could have gone either way, so I congratulate Lorenzo for a great performance. I am very proud of myself for overcoming this challenge."
It was a huge disappointment for Musetti, who lost his sixth consecutive ATP final. The Italian won two ATP titles in 2022 in Hamburg and Naples, but has not won a title since.

Despite the defeat, Musetti was still consoled by a ticket to the 2025 ATP Finals, when Djokovic announced his withdrawal. The Serbian star shared: “I was looking forward to playing in Turin and giving my best, but after today's final in Athens, I am sad to announce that I have been forced to withdraw due to a shoulder injury.
I am truly sorry to the fans who were looking forward to seeing me play, your support means a lot. I wish the other players a great tournament and look forward to competing with everyone again soon."
The 2025 ATP Finals will kick off today (November 9) in Turin (Italy). Musetti is in the same group as Carlos Alcaraz, Taylor Fritz and Alex de Minaur. The remaining group includes defending champion Jannik Sinner, Alexander Zverev, Ben Shelton and Auger-Aliassime.
