Top medical schools do not have Chemistry or Biology subjects for admission.

Many majors such as Public Health, Nutrition, Rehabilitation Engineering... in some Medical and Pharmaceutical schools recruit students with combinations that do not include Chemistry or Biology.

This year's admission season, at Hanoi Medical University , in addition to the traditional combination B00 (Math, Chemistry, Biology) for admission to majors such as Medicine, Traditional Medicine, Dentistry, the school uses the combination D01 (Math, Literature, English) for admission to majors such as Public Health , Psychology and C00 (Literature, History, Geography) for admission to majors such as Psychology.

This is also the first year that Hanoi Medical University recruits students with the A00 combination (Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry), applied to 12 training majors, including: Ophthalmology, Medical Laboratory Technology, Rehabilitation Technology, Nursing, Midwifery, Dental Prosthetic Technology, Nutrition, Social Work, Medical Imaging Technology.

Similarly, Thai Binh University of Medicine and Pharmacy also uses the A01 combination (Math, Physics, English) to recruit students for the Pharmacy major, in addition to the A00 combination (Math, Physics, Chemistry) and D07 (Math, Chemistry, English).

Since last year, the University of Public Health has recruited candidates from group D01 (Math, Literature, English) for the first time. This year, the school continues to use this combination to recruit students into the following majors: Public Health, Nutrition, Rehabilitation Technology, Social Work, and Data Science.

In addition, the school uses combination A01 (Math, Physics, English) to consider admission to the majors of Medical Laboratory Technology, Rehabilitation Technology, and Data Science; combination C00 (Literature, History, Geography), D66 (Literature, Civic Education, English) to consider admission to the major of Social Work.

This year, the University of Medicine and Pharmacy (University of Danang) plans to enroll two new majors: Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Psychology, using the combination A01 (Math, Physics, English) and D01 (Math, Literature, English) respectively.

At Tokyo Medical University Vietnam , the school uses the combination A01 (Math, Physics, English) and D28 (Math, Physics, Japanese) to recruit for the following majors: Nursing; Rehabilitation Engineering; Medical Imaging Technology; combination X26 (Math, IT, English) to recruit for the major of Medical Imaging Technology.

Recently, the Ministry of Education and Training issued guidelines for university admissions in 2025, which set out requirements for the development of admission methods (combinations, independent tests). Accordingly, subject combinations or independent assessment tests used for admission must be developed scientifically, practically and ensure the selection of candidates with basic knowledge and core competencies, suitable for the training program.

In case the university or college training program requires basic knowledge in a certain subject, the training institution must specify the entrance threshold for that subject (to ensure that candidates have studied in high school). For example, if the medical training program requires basic knowledge in Biology, it is necessary to specify the condition for Biology score in high school or high school graduation exam.
