According to the report, the poverty rate of the old Lang Son city (currently 4 new wards: Dong Kinh, Luong Van Tri, Tam Thanh, Ky Lua) is not high, but most of the poor households are very specific such as: the elderly living alone, sick; families with many children lacking jobs... In 2024, this area had about 55 poor households, accounting for 0.2% of the total number of households. Wards in Lang Son have focused on mobilizing the participation and contributions of businesses, organizations, and individuals; integrating resources in implementing sustainable poverty reduction goals. At the same time, the wards receive, manage and effectively use the "For the Poor" fund at all levels as well as improve the operational efficiency of poverty reduction steering committees at all levels. Thanks to that, in 2024, wards in Lang Son mobilized nearly 1 billion VND from organizations, businesses and individuals to support the reduction of 18 poor households and 14 near-poor households, exceeding the set target.
Specifically, in Dong Kinh ward, there are 13 poor households and 7 near-poor households. In order to carry out the work of sustainable poverty reduction, the locality has mobilized all resources to support households to escape poverty. As a result, in 2024, Dong Kinh ward reduced 7 poor households, reaching 233.3% of the plan, reaching 700% compared to the target assigned by the Ward People's Council Resolution; reduced 2 near-poor households, reaching 100% compared to the annual plan target. In particular, the Ward People's Committee supported 3 poor households with housing; repaired houses for 2 near-poor households; introduced jobs, supported production materials, created stable income for 3 households and implemented social protection support for 1 household.
Mr. Phung Quang Hoi, Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Secretary of the Dong Kinh Ward Party Committee, said: To implement poverty reduction, the locality has reviewed in detail the circumstances of each poor and near-poor household, analyzed the current situation of poor households to determine appropriate support methods.
“In 2025, Dong Kinh Ward aims to reduce the remaining poor households, so from the beginning of the year we have implemented solutions such as: surveying households in the plan and guiding poor households to develop production, supporting the consumption of agricultural products... This is a political task to welcome the 1st Dong Kinh Ward Party Congress, term 2025-2030, which will be held next week", Secretary Phung Quang Hoi emphasized.
Receiving a new, clean and spacious house, Ms. Ngo Thi Ngay, residing in block 7+10, Dong Kinh ward, shared: “My family has 2 mothers and children who do not have stable jobs. The daughter is old but not agile, the family's life is facing many difficulties. With the attention of the ward and local agencies to support the construction of a new house and the ward officials to advise and support our livelihood to have a stable income, we have escaped poverty, and our life is increasingly stable.
It is known that in 2025, wards in Lang Son province will continue to strive to reduce the number of existing poor households by 0.02% and effectively implement solutions to prevent poverty relapse.
