"Meeting point" of patriotism

At 7:00 a.m. on April 28, when the news of the special supplements of Nhan Dan Newspaper commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025) arrived in Bac Kan, many people were present at the Representative Office of Nhan Dan Newspaper to receive them. Among the hundreds of people who came to ask for the newspapers were seniors who were veterans, retired cadres, civil servants, and workers, but most of them were young people. Mr. Hoang Tuan Son, Chief Representative of Nhan Dan Newspaper Office in Bac Kan, was not surprised because last year, many readers were waiting for the panorama supplement " Dien Bien Phu Campaign". This is a vivid proof of the love for history and the country of the people of Bac Kan.

Mr. Tuan Son spent the whole day distributing supplements, sharing stories, impressive images and taking souvenir photos with readers. The unit gate became an interesting check-in point for young people and a "meeting place" of patriotism for many Bac Kan people. Despite different ages, occupations and genders, they shared a common interest in national history, which is a symbol of patriotism and national spirit.

“The representative office of Nhan Dan Newspaper in Bac Kan was allocated 550 copies of the supplement, while the number of interested readers was large. “Supply could not meet demand”, so we felt awkward having to refuse requests for the newspaper from many agencies and units. At the end of the day, when closing the gate, a man came to ask for the newspaper, appreciating the sentiment, I had to give him my own supplement,” Mr. Hoang Tuan Son shared.
Peace is sacred and priceless

Peace is not an abstract, general concept, but for the people of Bac Kan, it is something very ordinary but sacred and priceless. Walking on the streets of the city in the last days of April with flags, flowers and banners makes everyone feel proud and patriotic. At many shops, the national flag, the Party flag, the portrait of Uncle Ho, the map of Vietnam or the model of the tank that crashed into the gate of the Independence Palace are solemnly and beautifully decorated, creating a feeling of excitement for many young people.

Hai Anh, a young man from Cho Moi district, shared: “There are no words to describe the beauty of peace. It is the aspiration of many people and nations in the world. For every Vietnamese person, peace is priceless because it is built from the blood and tears of many generations of ancestors. The more we cherish peace, the more we, the younger generation, feel our responsibility to the Fatherland.”

Over the past 5 months, 5 female soldiers of the Provincial Military Command have been diligently participating in training for the parade to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day. This is not only a personal responsibility and honor, but also a message of affection and trust from the army and people of Bac Kan on this important national holiday.

There were also many Bac Kan people who went all the way to Ho Chi Minh City to watch the parade to feel the revolutionary atmosphere, the strength of the Army, the strength of the nation on this special anniversary. As for the people of many mountainous districts of Bac Kan, the spirit of patriotism was expressed through the competitive spirit of labor and production. During the day, they worked hard in the fields, and at night, they gathered around the TV to watch the news, documentaries, and live TV programs about the general offensive and uprising in the spring of 1975, bringing tears to their eyes.

Young people follow the trend of replacing their avatars with the national flag, taking photos and recording clips to express their love for the Army, the solidarity of the whole nation and the love for the country on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and the reunification of the country. In the minds of many young people, the trend may come and go, but the love for the homeland and country is forever.
The 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day is a particularly important political event. For every Bac Kan resident, it is also an opportunity to express patriotism, strengthen solidarity, and arouse the aspiration to reach out and join the whole country in entering a new stage of development./.
