Fishermen are excited because of the good luck of the sea
In recent days, Tam Quan Fishing Port, Hoai Nhon Town, Binh Dinh Province has been crowded with fishing boats docking to sell seafood. Most of these fishing boats have just returned from a tuna fishing trip. Many boats have had big catches with a catch of more than 3 tons, which has made many boat owners and fishermen very excited.

Hoai Nhon town, Binh Dinh province has 1,000 fishing boats with more than 6,000 workers participating in fishing during Tet at sea. Currently, the fishing boats have returned, there are days when 150 offshore fishing boats dock to sell ocean tuna. The number of fishing boats docking is so large that the Management Board of Fishing Port and Urban Services of Hoai Nhon town has mobilized maximum force to count and complete procedures for fishing boats entering and leaving the port.

Mr. Nguyen Chi Cong - Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Hoai Nhon town, Binh Dinh commented: "Almost all coastal communes and wards have held meetings to disseminate the Fisheries Law as well as Directive 45 of the Prime Minister , related decrees on fishing and combating IUU fishing".

Fisherman Truong Manh Muon (62 years old), residing in Tam Quan Nam ward, Hoai Nhon town, owner of fishing boat BD.97207-TS, brought the boat close to the wharf to unload seafood. On this trip, his boat had 5 people, fished for 16 days and caught 73 yellowfin tuna (2.6 tons) and 300kg of other seafood. After deducting expenses, each crew member received 20 million VND.

"The last trip to sea was comfortable, the weather was favorable. The family celebrated Tet, I reached the target when I got ashore, the family was more excited, the fishermen had money so they were happy, the fishing was as expected," Mr. Muon shared.

Fisherman's joy
After 24 days of fishing in Truong Sa fishing ground, fishing boat BD.98365-TS owned by fisherman La Van Duong (42 years old), residing in Tam Quan Bac ward, Hoai Nhon town, Binh Dinh province, has just returned.
Mr. La Van Duong said that his boat caught 1 ton of tuna and 400 kg of squid.

"The daily catch is about 50kg to 100kg. I earn enough from tuna to cover my expenses, and from selling squid, each person gets 10 million VND," said fisherman Duong.
Fisherman Nguyen Van Thanh (Tam Quan Nam ward) excitedly said: "The beginning of the year also brings joy to the family and a huge source of income for the crew."

According to Director of the Fishing Port Management Board and Urban Services of Hoai Nhon town Nguyen Minh Khai, all ships docking at Tam Quan fishing port have seafood purchased by traders and there is no congestion.

At the beginning of the year, fishing boats entering Tam Quan fishing port had an output not equal to that of the 12th lunar month of 2023, but still averaged 1.5 - 2 tons of fish/boat, ensuring income for fishermen.

"For ships entering and leaving the port, ensure that ships can load and unload seafood smoothly. For ships entering the port with any unusual signs, the IUU team and functional forces will be notified to come down and check and verify," said Mr. Nguyen Minh Khai.
