According to RT, the attack took place on the afternoon of June 1 (local time), unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) believed to be from Ukraine targeted a military facility in the Irkutsk region of Siberia. This is also the first time Siberia has been attacked by UAVs.
Siberian Governor Igor Kobzev confirmed the information and said the attack took place near the settlement of Sredny, about 150 km from Lake Baikal and 70 km from the region's capital of the same name.
A drone is also believed to have crashed into an abandoned building in the nearby village of Novomaltinsk, Mr Kobzev said.

The Siberian governor added that the drone was launched from a cargo truck, and it is not yet possible to determine the number of UAVs used in the attack.
Meanwhile, videos posted on social media show at least three UAVs participating in the attack inside the Russian military base.
Mr Kobzev said the area used by the suspects to carry out the attack had been neutralized. No civilian casualties have been reported.
Immediately after the news of the attack on the base in Irkutsk, both Russian and Ukrainian media simultaneously reported that Ukrainian intelligence agencies were behind the attack.
Ukraine has stepped up drone attacks deep inside Russian territory in recent weeks despite ongoing diplomatic efforts to end the conflict.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has accused Kiev of trying to derail the talks.
In response, Moscow launched retaliatory strikes on Ukrainian defense industrial sites, as well as military assembly points and depots.
The attack in Irkutsk coincided with reports of a similar drone attack in the Murmansk region of northern Russia, although details have not been released by Moscow.
