Pursuant to Resolution No. 169/NQ-CP dated September 30, 2024 of the Government promulgating the Action Program to implement Conclusion No. 79-KL/TW of the Politburo on continuing to implement Resolution No. 43-NQ/TW of the Politburo (12th tenure) on building and developing Da Nang city to 2030, with a vision to 2045, the Government requests the City People's Committee, ministries and relevant agencies to continue to accelerate the progress of infrastructure investment in many key and dynamic projects; including the conversion of Tien Sa wharf area into a marine tourism and service center.

Resolution No. 43-NQ/TW also determined to build Da Nang city into a seaport city, an international coastal city with the position of the core of the urban chain and the growth pole of the key economic region of the Central - Central Highlands. As one of the enterprises operating in the seaport sector, Da Nang Port has gradually developed strongly, reaching the level of becoming the largest and most modern seaport in the Central region.

In particular, after 10 years of equitization, the output of goods, containers, revenue and profit all grew. Specifically, the average growth of output of goods reached 8.2%, containers reached 13%, revenue reached 11% and profit reached 16%. Thus, in just 10 years from 2014 to 2024, output increased more than 3 times, containers increased 7 times, revenue increased more than 3 times and profit increased more than 5 times.

Currently, with phase 2 of Tien Sa port put into operation since the end of 2018, Da Nang Port has up to 1,700m of wharf, receiving general cargo ships up to 70,000 DWT, container ships up to 4,000 TEUs, passenger ships up to 170,000 GT, along with a modern and synchronous management software system, loading and unloading equipment and warehouses. Recently, the Ministry of Transport has approved wharf No. 1 of Tien Sa wharf (Da Nang port) to receive ships with a tonnage of up to nearly 50,000 DWT from the fourth quarter of 2024.

General Director of Da Nang Port Tran Le Tuan said that the port has oriented and focused on developing and applying information technology in production, maximally digitizing all stages in the operational process, especially focusing on container goods.

In order to affirm its stature and position as the most modern seaport in the Central region in particular and the whole country in general, over the past 5 years, Da Nang Port has pioneered comprehensive digital transformation, optimized production and exploitation processes, accelerated delivery and receipt, improved productivity, and contributed to the strong development of the marine economy to become the leading international trade gateway.

The port deploys ePORT electronic port software and is a pioneer in digital transformation by deploying electronic delivery orders through electronic customs clearance, electronic invoices and electronic payments. ePORT electronic port software applies advanced technology in the world such as using robots in many stages to improve productivity, increase work efficiency and minimize errors due to manual operations; applying container code recognition algorithms, automatically recognizing the number of containers imported and exported by ships and at the port gate...

Da Nang Port has now transformed into the largest seaport in the Central region and is an indispensable commercial gateway on the East-West economic corridor, an important link in the national, regional and global supply chain. Da Nang Port develops based on 3 pillars: seaport, logistics and tourism/services.

With this strategic orientation, Da Nang Port is accelerating the investment progress of the Hoa Nhon Logistics Service Center project on an area of 20 hectares with a large warehouse system, serving the entire Central - Central Highlands region. Da Nang Port has been and will continue to invest in comprehensive upgrades to become the most modern "green port" in the Central region, meeting the increasing demand of the market as well as aiming to meet international regulations on green ports in the future development roadmap.

Over the years, Da Nang Port has continuously invested in infrastructure, equipment, and human resource development to meet the increasing demands of customers.

The investment in the construction of the project of Bai sau wharf No. 4, 5 Tien Sa port also demonstrates the commitment of Da Nang Port in orienting the development of the port towards container ship services, cruise ships and large tonnage ships. The project has received great support and consensus from Vietnam National Shipping Lines, the City People's Committee, and central and local functional units.

The project contributes significantly to the synchronous development of the logistics system serving seaports, creating the foundation for Tien Sa port to become a modern container port in the region.

In the first 9 months of 2024, the port's cargo throughput reached over 10 million tons, up 15.4% over the same period in 2023, reaching 79.2% of the plan. Of which, container cargo output reached over 560,000 TEUs, up 14.1% over the same period in 2023, reaching 80.2% of the plan.
