Due to the impact of storm No. 13 (Kalmaegi), ToNa Pass (Ayun Pa ward), a vital traffic route connecting the western localities of Gia Lai province, is facing the risk of further landslides. This is an area where landslides frequently occur during the rainy and stormy season, especially at points with high slopes, weak ground and not yet solidly reinforced.
According to the authorities, heavy rains that have lasted since the night of November 5 have caused soil and rocks at some locations on the pass to erode, posing a potential risk of landslides at any time. Traffic management units have put up warning signs, deployed forces on duty and advised people to limit traffic through this area as the storm approaches.
The Gia Lai Provincial Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention, Control and Search and Rescue recommends that vehicles traveling through ToNa Pass should pay close attention, proactively monitor weather information, comply with instructions from authorities and absolutely not attempt to cross the pass when there are signs of landslides or prolonged heavy rain.
Currently, specialized agencies are coordinating to inspect, assess the level of danger and develop emergency response plans if a bad situation occurs. People living near the pass area are also being encouraged to move to a safe place to avoid loss of life and property.
