Unusual scene of 'packed' people in Hoi An ancient town during historic flood

With the historic flood of the Dragon Year 1964, thousands of people in Hoi An wards were shivering in the silver water for many days. On this side of the Hoai River, people in dry areas and the government were working hard to support each other to overcome the disaster.

On the afternoon of October 30, Tuoi Tre Online reporters followed the police and government rescue forces into the deepest flooded area in the old city of Hoi An towards Cam Kim commune. Everything is now a vast sea of ​​water.

Voices calling for water and food could be heard from afar. People shivering in the rain were packing their belongings on the upper floors of their houses, with the vast sea of ​​water below. Rescue boats rushed through the rushing water and the heavy rain to bring as much goods as possible to the people.

In the recent floods in Da Nang and Hoi An, which are located at the bottom of the lower Thu Bon River, almost every village on the other side of the river has been submerged. Due to the large population, evacuation is impossible.

To keep people from hunger and thirst, over the past few days the army, police, government and thousands of Hoi An people have found ways to help each other.

The streets in the old town have become gathering places for goods to be delivered by motorboats to the people. The forces and volunteers never rest for a minute. They work with all their love and sharing with each other in times of need.

Many foreign tourists coming to Hoi An on this occasion when seeing a scene of people gathering in the dark, with all kinds of sounds shouting to each other to quickly bring goods to help the people, were somewhat confused, not understanding what was happening.

When explained, many people expressed their emotion at the mutual help of Hoi An people and authorities.
