Information from an internet service provider (ISP) in Vietnam said: "This submarine optical cable will have to be restored due to errors arising on branches S1.9 and S9".

Previously, in June this year, this cable also encountered an error on branch S1.7. Therefore, these incidents have affected the capacity on the connection direction from Vietnam to Singapore.
However, the extent of the impact of this incident is not large. This may be the result of preparing for incidents in advance after the problem related to all 5 affected cable lines earlier this year.
The repair of the error on branch S1.7 of the APG submarine optical line was expected to be completed by the end of August, then postponed to early September. However, with two new incidents, this unit still does not have a specific repair schedule.
APG is one of five submarine optical cable lines in Vietnam, connecting from the Da Nang landing station to two regional Internet centers, Hong Kong and Singapore. This cable line has the participation of Vietnamese network operators VNPT, FPT Telecom, CMC Telecom, Viettel and is considered a cable line that contributes to providing stable transmission with larger capacity for Internet users in Vietnam.
The line's operations began to encounter problems in late 2022, then consecutive errors arose in April, June and August, causing capacity to not be restored after more than half a year.
Currently, there are five submarine cable lines connecting Vietnam's internet to the world, including AAG (Asia - America); APG (Asia - Pacific ); SMW-3 (Southeast Asia - Middle East - Western Europe); IA (Inter-Asia) and AAE-1 (Asia - Africa - Europe). Of which, the APG submarine cable line was officially put into operation in mid-December 2016, with a length of about 10,400 km, located under the Pacific Ocean, with the ability to provide a maximum bandwidth of up to 54 Tbps.
