At this time, Investment and Construction Consulting Joint Stock Company 126 - the unit in charge of repairing the old Rac bridge (located on the left side of National Highway 1, moving from North to South) in Cam Trung commune (Cam Xuyen) began to deploy traffic diversion to repair damaged expansion joints and the broken concrete of the southern bridge abutment (concrete layer covering the bridge girder head).
Currently, vehicles traveling through the section move on the new Rac bridge - located on the right side of National Highway 1. On the new Rac bridge, a soft median strip is installed to divide the traffic into two directions.

The south side of the old Garbage Bridge has been closed to traffic to allow for repair work. According to the investigation of Ha Tinh Newspaper reporters, the project to urgently repair the old Rac bridge has a total investment of 3.3 billion VND, of which the construction value is 2.95 billion VND, with Road Management Area II (Vietnam Road Administration) as the investor and Investment and Construction Consulting Joint Stock Company 126 as the contractor. The project implementation period is from April 17 to July 16, 2025. Discussing the construction plan, Mr. Nguyen Manh Ha - Project Executive Director said: At the southern bridge abutment, the contractor will scrape off the old asphalt concrete to check the damage level of the bridge deck, from which to choose a suitable construction plan. In addition, the damaged expansion joint will also be removed and replaced with a new expansion joint.
The damaged concrete covering of the bridge girder ends will be removed, replaced with new ones, and additional cross beams will be added to increase the bridge's connection. Before removing the damaged part, the wooden planks placed under the abutments to reduce vibration will also be removed.
Because the concrete covering the southern abutment beam of the old Garbage Bridge was damaged and located in a terrain area that was difficult for machinery to access, the construction process was largely manual. Along with repairing expansion joints and replacing girder wings, the old Garbage Bridge surface will also be scraped and resurfaced with a new 7cm thick layer of asphalt concrete to ensure safety for vehicles passing through here. According to Mr. Nguyen Manh Ha, National Highway 1 is the main traffic route of Ha Tinh with a large volume of traffic. The unit is requesting the contractor to focus on human resources and machinery to implement the construction and complete the repair of the damage as soon as possible. In addition to ensuring construction progress and quality, contractors also need to ensure traffic safety during the implementation of work.
