(NLĐO) - The Tang Long bridge project is being accelerated, with one branch expected to open to traffic by the end of February, helping to improve traffic and create convenience for people.
The Tang Long Bridge project in Thu Duc City is being expedited to ensure one section of the bridge is open to traffic by the end of February.
Following the Lunar New Year holiday, construction units promptly resumed work to ensure the project's progress.
One section of the Tang Long bridge will open to traffic at the end of February 2025.
Currently, the project is entering its final stages with items such as asphalt paving, stone paving at both ends of the bridge, installation of lighting systems, and completion of connecting roads. The investor is also carrying out renovations on the remaining lanes to ensure smooth traffic flow for the public.
According to a representative from the Ho Chi Minh City Transportation Project Management Board (Transportation Board), contractors have been actively implementing construction work immediately after the Lunar New Year to ensure progress. Initially, the plan was to complete the project before Tet, however, due to difficulties in sourcing construction materials, especially crushed stone, the schedule had to be adjusted.
The shortage of crushed stone not only affected the Tang Long bridge project but also impacted many other transportation projects at the end of 2024. However, immediately after Tet, the issue of crushed stone supply was basically resolved, allowing construction to be accelerated.
The Department of Transportation is currently focusing all resources to ensure one section of the bridge is open to traffic by the end of February. After the opening, the units will continue to complete the remaining bridge span and other items according to the plan.
The Tang Long Bridge spans the Trau Trau canal, measuring 231 meters in length with two branches, each 11 meters wide, comprising two lanes for vehicles and a pedestrian walkway. Approach roads at both ends of the bridge, totaling 559 meters in length, are equipped with lighting, greenery, and drainage systems.
The project commenced in late 2017 but was temporarily suspended in September 2019 due to land acquisition issues. The project covers a total area of 2.62 hectares, with a total investment of 741.1 billion VND, of which 688 billion VND is for construction costs, and the remainder is for compensation and land clearance. A total of 34 households were affected by the project.
By the end of October 2023, the People's Committee of Thu Duc City had handed over the land to the investor, creating favorable conditions for the project to continue. With the current progress, people expect to soon be able to travel smoothly on this important bridge.
