The banyan tree was planted byPresident Tran Duc Luong in June 2008 in the memorial house for heroic martyrs.

In 1998, the Vietnam Geological Department, the Northwest Geological Federation 3, in collaboration with Lao Cai province and the Vietnam Minerals Corporation, built a memorial stele for the 50 martyrs of Geological Group 305 who heroically sacrificed their lives in the fight to protect the country's border and the Sin Quyen copper mine on February 17, 1979.

This memorial site has a stele honoring the hero - engineer - martyr Nguyen Ba Lai and the workers and engineers who sacrificed their lives to protect the Sin Quyen mine.
