Maung Maung Lwin, a Myanmar player, was the only goal scorer for ASEAN All Stars, while all four Vietnamese players, Hoang Duc, Duy Manh, Van Vi and Hai Long, were given the opportunity to play by coach Kim Sang-sik.
On the MU side, key players such as Harry Maguire, Bruno Fernandes, Kobbie Mainoo and Casemiro were also used in rotation in the two halves. However, the "Red Devils" caused great disappointment with a performance that was judged superficial and lacking vitality.
On social media, many MU fans were not satisfied with the team's performance. One account wrote: "Is MU this bad now?". Another fan spoke up: "A soulless and unmotivated performance. What is Ruben Amorim doing?".
Another fan commented: "The players we praise as potential do not perform as well as the less famous players of the opponent. MU must review the youth training program."
MU fans also praised Hai Long, when the Vietnamese player accelerated and handled the ball skillfully, causing difficulties for MU's defense.
Laurie Whitwell, a writer for Athletic , commented: "A friendly match with many changes in MU's personnel. The disappointment was clearly shown on Amorim's face. MU had watched their opponents lift the trophy for the second time in the past week."
According to BBC , the tour to Malaysia is expected to bring in about 10 million USD for MU. After the match against ASEAN All Stars, the "Red Devils" will fly to Hong Kong to play the next friendly match on May 30.
