Vice Chairman of Chau Thanh District People's Committee Nguyen Tan Phong said: Chau Thanh is a suburban area with a dense system of canals and ditches, and poor rural infrastructure, creating barriers to socio-economic development. Therefore, in recent years, the local Party Committee and government have mobilized many capital sources, promoted the strength of the entire political system, and people have participated in socialization, building bridges and rural roads, following the motto "People know, people discuss, people do, people inspect, people contribute, people enjoy". Along with that, step by step reviewing, planning to upgrade and solidify rural traffic bridges. The bridge and road system in communes has been invested, basically meeting the criteria of new rural communes and advanced new rural communes. Every year, the district's specialized departments coordinate with the People's Committees of communes and towns to regularly maintain and repair degraded roads and roads affected by natural disasters. At the same time, speed up investment preparation, site clearance, and ensure the progress of starting new projects. Thanks to that, the district’s transport infrastructure has changed positively in recent years. “To develop sustainable transport infrastructure, the district focuses on completing the projects that have started. At the same time, reviewing and checking to determine the priority order of investment in projects in the area, to have a capital plan to balance and invest in construction projects…” - Mr. Nguyen Tan Phong shared.

The motto "The State and the People work together" has created favorable conditions and mobilized people to participate. When there are policies and guidelines for building bridges and roads, people enthusiastically respond, willing to donate land, contribute funds and efforts to complete roads and bridges on schedule and with the best quality. Over the past 5 years, all levels and sectors of Chau Thanh district have mobilized social resources to upgrade and repair rural roads, with a length of over 402km, with a total cost of over 8.4 billion VND; installed street lights to illuminate rural roads with a length of over 65km, with a total cost of over 2 billion VND; built new and repaired 103 rural bridges, with a total cost of over 22.6 billion VND...

“Building bridges and roads is a good deed, so my fellow villagers and I strongly support it. Those who have the strength will support it, and those who have the money will contribute money to build the countryside together. Everyone is happy and excited when the roads are invested in, upgraded, expanded, and cleared, meeting the needs of people traveling and transporting agricultural products and goods,” said Mr. Nguyen Van Ha (living in An Hoa hamlet, An Hoa commune).

Up to now, the rural traffic system in the district basically ensures connecting the district to the center of communes, towns or from one commune to another, with asphalt or concrete roads, and solidly built bridges. The traffic network is increasingly complete, very convenient for traveling, buying and selling, and trading. Since then, the material and spiritual life of the people has been improved, contributing to the development of production - business and promoting economic development. Mr. Ho Van Hai (residing in Tan Thanh hamlet, Tan Phu commune) shared: “I myself and the people here are very happy when the roads are invested in upgrading, expanding and smoothing, and the bridges are solidly built. Smooth traffic has well met the needs of traveling and transporting agricultural products and goods of the people. That result is thanks to the attention of the Party Committee, local authorities and the joint efforts of the people…”.
