In 2021, the Center for Science and Technology Application and Plant and Animal Protection of Ky Anh town, the Farmers' Association of the town coordinated with Ky Hoa commune to pilot planting of the tea tree with an area of 5,000 m2 in 10 households in Hoa Tien village. On that basis, in 2022, Ky Hoa commune established a medicinal plant growing cooperative to help each other produce and develop sustainably.

After 2 years of pilot planting, the cooperative's tea model has now expanded to 1.5 hectares with 12 households participating in planting, initially yielding harvests and bringing about good economic efficiency.

The tea tree variety is grown by households themselves.

Mr. Dang Van Bon (Hoa Tien village, Ky Hoa commune) said: "When we first started implementing the project, we encountered many technical difficulties, but after more than 2 years of planting and caring for it according to the correct process, 4 sao of Vang tea has started to generate income.

Currently, traders buy fresh Che Vang at 20,000 VND/kg; especially the value of processed products is very high, from 2 - 3 million VND/kg, but it is not enough to meet market demand. In addition to selling fresh Che Vang, my family also sells seedlings and Che Vang extract. Compared to many agricultural crops I have grown before, Che Vang brings much higher economic efficiency.

Mr. Dang Van Bon shared about the development process of the tea nursery.

Ms. Dao Thi Hue - Secretary of Hoa Tien village Party cell excitedly said: "Growing Vang tea not only initially brings economic efficiency but also helps the village eliminate many mixed gardens, difficult-to-cultivate lands, and improve the criteria for building new rural areas.

With this model, after about a year of planting, the harvest begins, twice a year, with a yield of 1-1.5 tons/sao/year. With a selling price of about 20,000 VND/kg, each sao can bring in an income of about 40-45 million/sao/year."

After 2 years, from an area of 5,000m2, the Vang tea model in Hoa Tien village has expanded to 1.5ha.

According to many people, Che Vang is one of the medicinal plants that bring high economic efficiency. However, up to now, the tree has been exploited mainly based on available natural resources. People exploiting Che Vang have not been aware of the regeneration of the tree, so they have exhausted the raw materials, while the demand for Che Vang tree stems and leaves to cook extract and process Che Vang products is increasing.

“The model of growing vằng tea in Hoa Tien village aims to provide stable raw materials for the production of vằng tea extract, eliminate mixed gardens, convert to crops with high economic value, contribute to job creation, increase income for farmers...”, Mr. Nguyen Manh Tan - Vice Chairman of Ky Hoa Commune People's Committee, shared.

Many households in Hoa Tien village plant the tea tree on fences to both save space and create a landscape for new rural construction.

According to Vice Chairman of Ky Hoa Commune People's Committee - Nguyen Manh Tan, the Che Vang tree is very suitable for the soil of Hoa Tien village. Planting and caring for it is not too difficult but brings economic efficiency, so more and more households are participating in planting. Along with the orientation of developing medicinal products, in the coming time, Ky Hoa aims to build Che Vang extract products to become OCOP medicinal products of the commune...

Through the implementation process, the medicinal plant Che Vang in Hoa Tien village has initially achieved positive results, opening up a new direction for economic development for the people here. In the coming time, the town will continue to replicate the model to develop this place into a specialized area for medicinal plants in the locality; build OCOP products for medicinal plants...
