Department of Crop Production and Plant Protection: Strengthening supervision of production facilities applying VietGAP

The Department of Crop Production and Plant Protection has just coordinated with the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Phu Giao district, the District Agricultural Service Center and the People's Committee of An Binh commune to inspect 5 out of 18 households/facilities that have been granted VietGAP certificates in the commune.

Through actual monitoring, it is shown that households/facilities maintain field diary recording - a mandatory content in the VietGAP process. However, the implementation is not complete, mainly in a perfunctory manner, not reflecting the actual production. Notably, the work of taking periodic samples to analyze pesticide residues, an important criterion to ensure food safety, has not yet received due attention from households. The delegation has noted the difficulties in maintaining production according to VietGAP standards of households/facilities; at the same time, in the coming time, it will propose solutions and policies suitable to the reality so that households/facilities continue to maintain agricultural production according to the VietGAP process, contributing to promoting safe, effective and sustainable agricultural production in the area. The delegation also requested An Binh commune and professional agencies of Phu Giao district to focus on supporting the development of models of linking production and product consumption according to the value chain; Promote communication to raise consumer awareness of the value of VietGAP products...
