The world's largest crocodile species is known as the swamp killer with a cold-blooded nature that makes many people afraid. In particular, some species such as saltwater crocodiles and Nile crocodiles are considered to be very brutal in attacking their prey, always winning.

Nile crocodile

The Nile crocodile is the largest living African crocodile, known as a man-eater, both hated and revered. In ancient Egypt, the Nile crocodile was mummified and worshiped as a god.

This species of crocodile, the largest in the world, eats its own kind.

The body length of this crocodile species is up to 5m and weighs 700kg. Like other crocodile species, the Nile crocodile has males that are about 30% larger than females. However, this body size is still smaller than many other crocodile species, such as the saltwater crocodile.

Saltwater crocodile

The saltwater crocodile has the widest range of all crocodilian species, extending from the eastern coast of the Indian subcontinent through most of Southeast Asia and northern mainland Australia. Saltwater crocodiles are strong swimmers.

While not as prolific in human attacks as the Nile crocodile, this crocodile is famous for killing nearly 400 Japanese soldiers in 1945 as they retreated through the swamps.

Black Caiman

The black caiman is a member of the Alligatoridae family, along with the American alligator. However, this species of crocodile does not usually attack humans, although it is capable of doing so.

On average, each adult black Caiman crocodile will be about 3.9 m long and weigh more than 350 kg. This helps them to be on the list of Top 10 largest crocodile species in the world.

Alligator

The American crocodile is an extremely dangerous animal, found only in Colombia and Venezuela. With a body weight of about 380kg and a length of more than 4m, the American crocodile becomes one of the 3rd largest predators in the world.

At the same time, the North American crocodile is also the largest crocodile species in the Americas. When hunting, they also hunt crocodiles of the same family but smaller in size. Currently, this crocodile species is the most endangered in the world.

This crocodile species is critically endangered.

American crocodile

Although not the largest species, the American crocodile is the most dangerous in the crocodile family. Because they can move at a speed of nearly 17km/h on land and more than 32km/h in water.

In addition, the Central American crocodile also has a body weight of about 335kg and a body length of more than 4m, easily turning humans into delicious prey.

Indian crocodile

Although it has a body length of more than 4.5m, the Indian crocodile only ranks 6th in the Top 10 largest crocodile species in the world. Because this crocodile species has a rather modest body weight, only weighing about 250kg for adults.

Currently, this reptile species is at very high risk of extinction with only about 235 individuals left living in the wild.

American Alligator

The American alligator has an average length of 3.4 m and weighs 240 kg. This species of alligator is commonly distributed in rivers and swamps in the southern United States.

In particular, the American alligator is considered to be the culprit of the strongest bite in the animal world, with a bite force measured at 9,452 newtons. Despite such a strong bite, they have very weak jaw muscles, which humans can hold with their hands.
