Finalizing 23 players, Coach Kim Sang Sik is not in a hurry to call Do Hoang Hen to the Vietnam national team.

On the afternoon of November 6, the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) announced the list of players to be called up to the Vietnam team to prepare for the rematch against Laos in the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers. The list includes 23 players, most of whom are familiar faces who have competed in the 2024 ASEAN Cup and a few are new players.

Among them are Do Duy Manh, Pham Xuan Manh, Nguyen Thanh Chung, Bui Tien Dung, Nguyen Hai Long, Nguyen Hoang Duc, Nguyen Quang Hai, Pham Tuan Hai...

Some players were called back after several previous absences, including goalkeeper Nguyen Dinh Trieu, defender Phan Tuan Tai, midfielder Le Van Do, Tran Bao Toan and especially striker Nguyen Xuan Son.

In the rookie group, coach Kim Sang Sik gave opportunities to defender Khong Minh Gia Bao and striker Nguyen Tran Viet Cuong.

Khong Minh Gia Bao was born in 2000, is playing steadily in the defense of Cong An TP.HCM, helping the team rank 5th in V-League 2025 - 2026.

Nguyen Tran Viet Cuong was also born in 2000 and was previously called up to the U23 Vietnam team by Coach Park Hang Seo. Last season, he scored 26 goals in 32 matches for Becamex Binh Duong (formerly known as Becamex TP.HCM) in various competitions. This season, he is also regularly shining in the shirt of the team from the land of Thu.

The Korean strategist has not called up naturalized player Do Hoang Hen because he is not eligible to play for the Vietnamese national team according to FIFA regulations. He also did not call up goalkeeper Nguyen Filip and midfielder Nguyen Duc Chien.

This training session coincides with the key training period of the Vietnam U22 team in preparation for the 33rd SEA Games, so some outstanding young players who have been present in the national team in previous training sessions will not appear this time.

However, coach Kim Sang Sik still maintains stability in his squad, harmoniously combining experienced pillars and players who are performing well at the club.

In addition, the return of Nguyen Xuan Son is also considered a positive signal for the attack. Up to this point, Xuan Son has fully recovered and is ready to return to the national team.
