The Luong Van Chanh High School for the Gifted is rushing to complete the final buildings with dozens of workers working hard. Mr. Tran Van Quang, a worker working here, shared: I often have to work at heights in hot weather like now, so I am always aware of the need to comply with labor safety regulations and take measures to ensure my own safety while working. My fellow workers and I strictly follow the regulations on protection and safety at work because we clearly recognize the dangers, as well as the risks and serious consequences that will be encountered if the regulations are not followed. This is also a mandatory regulation and requirement of the contractor for workers.

At the construction project of some sections of the embankment to prevent erosion on the right bank of the Ban Thach River combined with the traffic road, the section from Ban Thach Bridge to Ben Lon Bridge (2.116km long), the work of ensuring labor safety is also being vigorously implemented. Mr. Nguyen Dinh Tuy, Construction Supervisor (Provincial Construction Investment Project Management Board) said: We regularly monitor and check the progress, quality as well as the work of ensuring safety on the project to remind the construction unit. With a special construction environment such as the river embankment project, this work is even more important, especially in the construction phase of the embankment foot item.

Along with ensuring construction safety, the contractor of the project to invest in the wastewater collection pipeline system on some roads in Tuy Hoa City must always strengthen the work of ensuring traffic safety and environmental sanitation in the construction area. According to Mr. Luu Xuan Thuy, Vice President of Nang Ban Mai Group, because the pipeline runs on the sidewalk, the construction sites are all dug open, so the work of safety and sanitation of the project is given top priority. The contractor organizes the construction sites reasonably, completing them in a rolling manner to limit the mess along the roads. At the construction site, the unit arranges barriers, signs, cleaners, and traffic control for passing vehicles.

Resolutely handle violations

Along with the need for social development, a series of projects have been deployed in the province. With a large volume of construction work and working in a special environment, ensuring occupational safety and hygiene at the construction site is always considered important by the units and thoroughly implemented to each worker.

Mr. Dang Khoa Dam, Director of the Provincial Construction Investment Project Management Board, said: Implementing the direction of the Provincial People's Committee, in recent times, the unit has strengthened inspection and control work, resolutely stopping construction at construction sites showing signs of violations of occupational safety and hygiene. In addition, the investor also requires contractors to focus on investing in equipment, regularly inspecting machinery to do a good job of occupational safety, especially for high-altitude projects. Along with that, regular training and guidance on regulations on ensuring safety for workers and handling possible occupational accidents are required; increasing the installation of signs and warnings in dangerous places.

Every construction project brings great benefits to society. However, if labor safety is not paid enough attention, the consequences can be extremely serious. Therefore, it is the responsibility of all parties involved - from investors, contractors to management agencies - to protect the lives and health of workers.

The working environment at construction sites always has many potential risks of occupational accidents. Activities such as operating heavy machinery, working at heights, lifting heavy loads, etc. can cause serious consequences if not managed and properly implemented according to occupational safety regulations. Therefore, ensuring occupational safety must be a regular and continuous task. Not only that, the role of supervision and inspection by competent authorities is also very important.

Affirming this issue, Mr. Tran Xuan Tuc, Director of the Department of Construction said: With the role of the department, we regularly coordinate with related units to carry out inspection and examination activities to promptly detect violations. Thereby, there are measures to remind and handle according to regulations; at the same time, there are instructions for employers as well as employees to properly implement regulations on occupational safety and hygiene.
