On the morning of August 20, leaders of the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Ha Tinh inspected and supplemented the organization and implementation of urgent measures to prevent and control pests and epidemics in a number of localities.

Leaders of the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Ha Tinh inspected the work of preventing and controlling pests and diseases on crops and livestock in Cam Binh and Thach Lac communes.
According to local reports, this summer-autumn crop, pests and diseases on rice plants have developed in a complicated and irregular manner, such as white-backed planthoppers, leaf rollers, and brown spot disease, which have caused severe damage and spread widely. In addition, infectious diseases in livestock have also occurred in the area, such as African swine fever; lumpy skin disease, and foot-and-mouth disease in cattle.

After the field inspection, the leaders of the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Ha Tinh had a working session with the communes of Cam Binh, Thach Lac, Thach Khe, and Dong Tien on disease prevention and control in crops and livestock.

At the meeting, the leaders of the Department of Agriculture and Environment emphasized: This year's summer-autumn crop has had the most unusual pest and disease developments ever, but with the drastic direction of the province, the synchronous participation of specialized sectors, local authorities and the people's focus on prevention, so far the summer-autumn rice areas have basically been safe, 70% of the area is entering the ripening stage. Regarding livestock diseases, localities are focusing on control.
The leaders of the Department of Agriculture and Environment requested the communes of Cam Binh, Thach Lac, Thach Khe, Dong Tien and other localities in the province to thoroughly handle some areas infected with pests that have not been prevented according to the "4 rights" principle; monitor the growth of rice fields, especially early-sown rice fields, and prepare conditions for harvesting with the motto "green at home is better than old in the fields".
For livestock, strictly implement the announcement of epidemics, mobilize the entire political system to fight against epidemics; focus on mobilizing resources, promptly arranging funding, disinfectants, and organizing the complete handling of outbreaks. In particular, raise awareness and responsibility of people in livestock farming, focusing on safe livestock farming measures. In the long term, localities need to have specific solutions to limit small-scale livestock farming, focus on linked farm farming.
According to the report of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, there are currently 926 outbreaks in 34 provinces and cities nationwide that have not passed 21 days. The number of pigs that had to be destroyed was more than 330,000. The disease mainly occurred in small-scale farms. In many provinces and cities across the country and in Ha Tinh province, many cases of transporting animals and animal products infected with the disease have been detected and handled.
Currently, the erratic weather reduces the resistance of livestock, creating favorable conditions for pathogens to develop, so the risk of disease outbreaks and spread in livestock is still very high. People need to raise awareness and responsibility in disease prevention and control.
