Forces prepare supplies at some key points in Quang Nham commune (Quang Xuong) to be ready to respond when floods occur.
As a mountainous district, Nhu Thanh is often affected by many types of natural disasters such as flash floods, landslides, floods, heat waves, etc. In order to minimize the damage caused by natural disasters, from the beginning of 2025, the district has organized statistics and reviewed households living in areas at risk of natural disasters. From there, a plan was developed to evacuate 189 households/873 people living in areas at risk of flash floods, landslides; 213 households/857 people in low-lying areas when there is heavy rain and risk of flooding; evacuate 1,460 households/5,651 people to cope with strong storms; evacuate 1,950 households/7,144 people to cope with super storms... Along with that, the district established working groups to inspect and assess works at risk of unsafety before the flood season at 12 reservoirs, 7 canals, 2 pumping stations in 6 communes; Inspect the preparation of materials and conditions for disaster prevention and control in 2025 in communes and towns in the area.
Chairman of the People's Committee of Nhu Thanh district Dang Tien Dung said: To proactively respond to all types of natural disasters, from the beginning of the year, the district has completed the Command Committee for natural disaster prevention, control, search and rescue and civil defense at all levels. Issued a plan to assign materials to communes and towns and prepared response plans for possible scenarios, especially focusing on response plans for types of natural disasters that frequently occur in the locality. In particular, strengthening the safety of irrigation works; dredging canals, clearing flows; reviewing, supplementing and perfecting plans and solutions for natural disaster prevention and control; preparing forces, materials, means, and logistics at the highest level... Regularly organize propaganda and guidance on natural disaster prevention and control in the area, especially in high-risk areas with the possibility of natural disasters so that people understand and implement.
Faced with the weather developments, sectors and localities have reviewed, supplemented and completed plans to mobilize 186,583 people (mainly military , police and militia forces) to participate in natural disaster prevention and search and rescue. Up to now, 547/547 communes, wards and towns in the province have established, consolidated and completed disaster prevention and control teams with 50,001 participants. In preparing reserve materials, the whole province has prepared: 44,487m3 of boulders; 13,406m3 of crushed stone and gravel; 9,354m3 of sand; 80,033m3 of soil; 29,926 steel cages; 1,016,766 sacks; 197,727m2 of tarpaulins, 199,428 bamboo stakes and many other types of materials. Materials are currently being gathered at key locations or specialized warehouses and yards to serve disaster prevention and control work in the province.

Through the review, the whole province has also identified 42 key weak points of dikes, including 1 key provincial level (Ham Rong dike, embankment from K39+350 - K39+680 right dike of Ma River, Ham Rong ward, Thanh Hoa city) and 41 key points at district level; 57 reservoirs are not safe. The key weak dikes, dams have all had their protection plans established and approved according to regulations and assigned to relevant localities and units to fully prepare the conditions according to the "4 on-site" motto to be ready to deploy when required. Sectors and localities have also reviewed, supplemented and completed plans to mobilize means and equipment to be ready to serve the work of natural disaster prevention, control and search and rescue. To date, the whole province has prepared 795 life tents; 25,449 life jackets; 15,892 life buoys; 734 generators; 14,308 specialized raincoats; 93,689m of rope; 410 life rafts; 14,007 specialized raincoats and other equipment to be ready to respond to and handle situations when storms and floods occur.
The province has also reviewed and identified 94,965 households/374,521 people living in dangerous areas that need to be evacuated when natural disasters occur. This will serve as a basis for localities to proactively develop response plans to ensure the safety of people's lives and property when natural disasters occur. In addition, localities have developed plans to ensure logistics, medical care and environmental treatment after natural disasters; established emergency teams, surgical teams, and prepared adequate human resources, supplies, chemicals and medical equipment for first aid, environmental sanitation, and disease prevention during and after natural disasters. In addition, localities have reserved 1,361 tons of rice; 170,651 cartons of instant noodles; 454,187 bottles of bottled water; 879 tons of iodized salt; 830,046 liters of diesel oil; 844,662 liters of gasoline; 372,750 liters of kerosene; 1,468 tons of alum; 221,467 tablets and 25,201 kg of Cloramin B; 3,852 tons of lime powder...
With a proactive spirit, sectors and localities are actively participating in the implementation of natural disaster prevention, control and search and rescue tasks in 2025 to ensure effectiveness, contributing to minimizing damage caused by natural disasters, protecting property and people's lives.
