Ha Trung farmers help each other develop the economy

Leaders of the Farmers' Association of Ha Trung district visited the comprehensive farm model of Mr. Vu The Son's family.

The District Farmers' Association currently has nearly 14,300 members. In 2024 and the first quarter of 2025, all levels of the association will coordinate with businesses, the District Agricultural Service Center, and cooperatives to organize 7 vocational training courses for 235 members; 142 training courses on science and technology in cultivation and animal husbandry for 11,600 farmers to participate. In addition, the association also proactively coordinated with Tien Nong Agricultural Industry Joint Stock Company and Luu Suong Trading Company Limited to supply 1,194 tons of deferred fertilizer, 1.2 tons of deferred rice seeds to farmer members, and over 1,000 packages of Sumitri products to treat post-harvest straw in the fields.

Implementing the program in coordination with the Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development and the Bank for Social Policies, through savings and loan groups, by May 2025, the whole district had nearly 6,400 farmer members who had been able to borrow capital to invest in production and business development with a total outstanding loan of more than 603.3 billion VND. In addition to the capital of the two banks, the association also effectively promoted the capital of the Central and Provincial Farmers' Support Funds and the District Farmers' Support Fund to lend to 108 farmer member households to develop production. Typical examples include the project of combined fish and rice farming in Ha Tan commune, beekeeping for honey in Ha Dong commune, and commercial snail farming in Ha Vinh commune...

Mr. Vu The Son in Phu Tho village, Thai Lai commune - one of the typical farmer members in the economic development movement, said: "In the past, my family mainly grew rice and raised small-scale livestock, life was still difficult. Realizing that the land and climate in the locality were suitable for developing a comprehensive economic model, in 2015, my family invested in digging ponds, improving the land, installing a pump system, water pipes, and building a farm with an area of nearly 5,000m2 to grow flowers, ornamental plants, and raise fish. Through many failures and experience, from the family's capital and a loan of 100 million VND from the Social Policy Bank, the farm now has a variety of flowers and ornamental plants to supply to projects and consumers inside and outside the district".

It is known that Mr. Son's family also invested in a store selling consumer goods, fertilizers... bringing in a stable income of 400 - 500 million VND/year. For many years, his family has been a typical example of good production and business in the district, receiving many certificates of merit from the district People's Committee and farmers' associations at all levels.

According to Chairman of the Farmers' Association of Ha Trung District Mai Van Son, helping members and farmers develop the economy is one of the key tasks of the association and the farmers' movement in the locality. Through the effective launching and implementation of the movement "Farmers compete in good production and business, unite to help each other get rich and reduce poverty sustainably", it has created a driving force for members to constantly develop their household economy, gradually increase income, and improve their lives. Along with developing the household economy, farmers' associations at all levels have propagated, mobilized and oriented members to participate in cooperatives, cooperative groups, branches and professional farmer groups. Mobilizing farmers to improve the quality of agricultural products, ensuring criteria on food hygiene and safety, environmental sanitation; linking production and consumption to build a sustainable agricultural development...

Dynamic, creative, daring to think, daring to do, many farmers' association members of Ha Trung district boldly introduced new crops and livestock into production, developed comprehensive farms, and provided services that brought high economic efficiency, increased family income, and created jobs for local workers. A typical example is the business model of agricultural supplies, construction materials, road transportation, production linkage and agricultural product processing of Mr. Nguyen Huu Luu's family, Gia Mieu village (Ha Long town), with an annual revenue of 50 - 60 billion VND, creating jobs for 25 regular workers and 23 seasonal workers. The business model of machinery and agricultural supplies of Mr. Dang Thanh Binh's family in sub-area 2, Ha Trung town has a total revenue of more than 3.6 billion VND, creating jobs for 10 regular workers and 5 seasonal workers. Models of growing pineapple, grapefruit, cucumber, raising commercial snails, raising egg-laying chickens, raising bees for honey, raising ducks, raising pigs... have helped many households expand their production scale, focus on building brands to become key products, highly competitive in the market, thereby improving the lives of members. Up to now, the whole district has 8,785 households meeting the standards of good production and business at all levels, of which 3 households have reached the central level, 105 households have reached the provincial level, 806 households have reached the district level and 7,871 households have reached the grassroots level.
