Marxism-Leninism is the ideological foundation of the Party.

Báo Thái BìnhBáo Thái Bình05/05/2023

Marxism-Leninism was born in the 1940s, and is a synthesis of three parts: Marxist-Leninist philosophy, Marxist-Leninist political economy, and scientific socialism.

Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics in collaboration with the Truth National Political Publishing House organized the introduction ceremony of the Political Knowledge Book Series - a series of popular theoretical books on Marxism-Leninism, Ho Chi Minh thought and the path of national renewal on February 3, 2023.

If Marxist-Leninist philosophy studies the most general laws of nature, society and human thinking, Marxist-Leninist political economy studies the basic economic laws of society, especially capitalist society; and scientific socialism studies the path, methods and driving force of building socialism. The birth and development of Marxism-Leninism are closely linked to the great contributions of C. Marx.

Since its inception and even in the present period, there have been many wrong and distorted views aimed at criticizing and denying Marxism-Leninism and denying the great contributions of C. Marx, but up to now, Marxism-Leninism is still the only scientific and revolutionary doctrine that meets all historical tasks and no other doctrine can replace it.

That is to provide a scientific worldview and revolutionary methodology for people to perceive and reform the world. Compared to the time of C. Marx, the world today has changed a lot, the world revolutionary movement has also had many ups and downs, unpredictable fluctuations but still does not go beyond the common laws that C. Marx pointed out when studying the process of movement and development of human society. Therefore, when referring to Marx's doctrine, no one can deny the great contributions of C. Marx.

With philosophy, C. Marx founded materialist dialectics - a method of cognition that overcame the errors and one-sidedness of both the naive and simple dialectics of the previous ancient times as well as the idealistic dialectics of classical German philosophy later. Thanks to that, philosophy became a sharp theoretical weapon of the working class in the struggle to liberate its class and the whole society.

In addition, C. Marx put forward materialist views on history, completely overcoming the limitations of previous materialism - that is, only materialism when studying the natural world but idealism when studying history and society.

With scientific socialism, for the first time C. Marx convincingly explained the world historical mission of the working class, and the great role of the proletariat. It is the force capable of radically transforming social relations, eliminating the exploitation of man by man and building a new social regime - communist society.

The purpose of this social regime is not only to liberate "a particular class" but to liberate the whole society, to liberate humanity from all oppression, injustice, and alienation with the motto: The free development of each person is the condition for the free development of all people. This is what makes Marxism humanistic that no other doctrine has.

With political economy, C. Marx discovered the law of motion of the capitalist mode of production through the theory of surplus value. According to V. Lenin, this is "the cornerstone of Marx's economic theory" and "the fundamental content of Marxism".

With this doctrine, C. Marx "discovered the secret of capitalist exploitation", and at the same time pointed out the fundamental contradiction of capitalist society as the contradiction between increasingly socialized productive forces and the capitalist private ownership of means of production, the contradiction between the working class and hired laborers and the bourgeoisie.

As V. Lenin observed, the whole genius of C. Marx lies in his ability to solve the problems raised by the advanced thinking of mankind. Thanks to that, Marxism became a scientific and revolutionary doctrine, providing people with a complete worldview, without compromising with any superstition or reactionary force in society.

Although it was born nearly 200 years ago and has always had to endure many attacks and sabotage from bourgeois and hostile ideologies, the views of C. Marx in particular and Marxism-Leninism in general still have lasting vitality and eternal value.

That vitality is expressed in the fact that it has answered the questions posed by the progressive thought of mankind, illuminating the ripe historical tasks of mankind. That is the task of liberating people from all forms of oppression, exploitation, and alienation.

In the current situation, the vitality of Marxism-Leninism is also demonstrated in the fact that, right from Western capitalist countries, people see many studies on the values of Marxism and Marxist economic theory. The movement of "returning to Marx" and "reading Marx" has arisen in many countries that previously had a tendency to reject Marxism.

In particular, during the period of the 2008-2009 global financial crisis and economic recession, the public debt crisis and economic recession in many developed capitalist countries, the movement of "returning to Karl Marx" and "reading Marx" became more exciting than ever.

Marxist classics are still the most widely read, especially "Capital" which is still ranked number 1 in the world and is currently translated into 134 languages in 63 countries.

Therefore, it is impossible to distort Marxism as an "illusory" doctrine, "outdated and outdated" when this doctrine has created realities that have transformed the world, promoted the development and progress of human history and has had a profound appeal and influence on all of humanity. Accordingly, it is also impossible to deny the great contributions of C. Marx to the formation and development of Marxism on a global scale.

Since its inception, the Communist Party of Vietnam has identified Marxism-Leninism as the Party's ideological foundation. From the 7th Congress (1991) to the present, our Party has added Ho Chi Minh's thought and clearly stated: The Party takes Marxism-Leninism and Ho Chi Minh's thought as the ideological foundation and compass for all actions.

To maintain the ideological foundation, our Party always clearly identifies the need to adhere to the principles of Marxism-Leninism, constantly supplementing and developing them to suit Vietnamese reality and the world situation.

In recent years, there have been many complicated developments in the domestic and international situation. In the world, extreme nationalism and populism are on the rise, non-traditional security issues are still ongoing and tend to become increasingly complicated.

In the country, although the cause of innovation has been comprehensively promoted, it still faces many difficulties and major challenges such as sabotage by hostile forces and reactionary organizations that are increasingly sophisticated and fierce; manifestations of degradation in political ideology, ethics, lifestyle, "self-evolution" and "self-transformation" within the Party; and the situation of corruption, waste, negativity... still evolving complicatedly.

More seriously, there are a number of cadres and party members whose political will is not firm, whose political ideology has degraded, who are still skeptical and vague about the Party's goals and ideals and the path to socialism in our country; a few are confused, wavering, and have lost confidence; some even deny Marxism-Leninism, Ho Chi Minh's thought and the Party's renewal policy... These are challenges that cannot be ignored or overlooked.

Faced with that situation, our Party clearly stated: The guiding ideology of our entire Party, people and army is to firmly and creatively apply and develop Marxism-Leninism and Ho Chi Minh Thought. This is considered one of the issues of principle, of vital significance to our regime, the solid foundation of our Party, which does not allow anyone to waver or waver.

The steadfastness and steadfastness of our Party over the past 93 years is convincing evidence to affirm that Marxism-Leninism still has value and lasting vitality in many countries around the world, including Vietnam.

With these great and historically significant achievements, it can be affirmed that our country has never had such a foundation, potential, position and international prestige as today. This is convincing evidence to affirm that our Party's steadfast adherence to Marxism-Leninism is completely correct, both in accordance with objective laws and meeting the legitimate aspirations of the people.
