President Luong Cuong attends the 80th Anniversary of the Traditional Day of the Military Region 3 Command

On the morning of October 28, in Hai Phong, the Party Committee and Command of Military Region 3 held a ceremony to celebrate the 80th anniversary of its traditional day (October 31, 1945 - October 31, 2025) and receive the First Class Fatherland Protection Medal. President Luong Cuong, Chairman of the National Defense and Security Council, Commander-in-Chief of the People's Armed Forces attended and delivered a speech.

Also attending were former Chairmen of the National Assembly: Nguyen Van An, Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan; Politburo members: Tran Cam Tu, Standing member of the Secretariat; Phan Dinh Trac, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Party Central Committee's Internal Affairs Commission; Nguyen Van Nen, Standing member of the Party's 14th National Congress Document Subcommittee. General Secretary To Lam, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, and Chairman of the National Assembly Tran Thanh Man sent congratulatory flower baskets.

Attending the ceremony were General Trinh Van Quyet, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Director of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army; Deputy Prime Ministers Le Thanh Long and Bui Thanh Son; Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Tran Quang Phuong, along with leaders of central ministries and branches; Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, Heroes of the People's Armed Forces; officers and soldiers of Military Region 3.

After the August Revolution in 1945, to protect the revolutionary achievements, on October 31, 1945, the Government of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam issued a decision to establish War Zone 2 and War Zone 3, including most of the provinces of the Red River Delta. This was an important historical event marking the birth, maturity and growth of the Military Region's Armed Forces.

Due to the requirements of the revolutionary stages, the Government, the Central Military Commission - the Ministry of National Defense have merged and separated many times with the names: Inter-zone 3, Left Bank Zone, Left Bank Military Zone, Right Bank Military Zone and the current Military Zone 3.

To summarize and evaluate the growth and maturity of the armed forces, in accordance with the wishes of officers, soldiers and people of the Red River Delta, on July 27, 2005, the Minister of National Defense issued a decision to take October 31, 1945 as the Traditional Day of the Armed Forces of Military Region 3.

Over 80 years of building, fighting and growing, generations of officers and soldiers of the Armed Forces of Military Region 3 have always upheld the spirit of "Solidarity, initiative, creativity, sacrifice, victory", absolutely loyal to the Party, State and People; steadfastly overcoming hardships and sacrifices, contributing with the entire army and people to create great victories for the nation.

Entering the period of peace, the force continues to promote its tradition, successfully completes military and defense tasks; maintains political stability, social order and safety in the area; is the core force in preventing and overcoming the consequences of natural disasters and epidemics. During the period of innovation, promoting industrialization and modernization of the country, building a "Revolutionary, disciplined, elite, and gradually modernized" Army; the Military Region's armed forces always have a strong political stance, proactively grasp the situation, and make correct and accurate recommendations to the Party, State, Central Military Commission - Ministry of National Defense on military and defense work; promptly handles situations to maintain the border and sea and islands in the Northeast, which is one of the stable areas of the country.

With its outstanding achievements, the Armed Forces of Military Region 3 were honored to receive 2 Gold Star Orders, 3 Ho Chi Minh Orders, 5 Independence Orders, 1 First Class Fatherland Protection Order and many other noble awards from the Party and State.

Speaking at the ceremony, on behalf of the Party and State leaders, President Luong Cuong warmly congratulated, commended and highly appreciated the achievements and great contributions of the Armed Forces of Military Region 3 to the glorious revolutionary cause of the Party and the nation over the past 80 years.

The President stated that, after 80 years of construction, fighting and growing up, under the leadership of the Party, the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense; the love and care of the people, generations of officers and soldiers of the Armed Forces of Military Region 3 have always maintained and promoted the glorious and heroic historical tradition of the "Fundamental" land, "geomancy and talented people", rich in historical and cultural traditions of the Red River Delta; absolutely loyal to the Party, the Fatherland and the People; Unite closely, strive to overcome all difficulties and challenges, fight bravely, achieve many outstanding feats, together with the entire Party, the entire people and the entire army to win great victories in the cause of national liberation, building and defending the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and fulfilling glorious international obligations, contributing to beautifying the glorious tradition of the heroic Vietnam People's Army, the noble qualities of "Uncle Ho's Soldiers" that the people love and honor.

To successfully complete the task of building and defending the Fatherland in the new era of the nation, the President requested the Party Committee, Command and Armed Forces of Military Region 3 to focus on building the Military Region's Armed Forces to be politically strong, as a basis for improving overall quality and combat strength; thoroughly grasp and effectively implement the Resolution of the 12th Army Party Congress, the Resolution of the Military Region's Party Congress for the 2025-2030 term, build a Military Region's Party Committee that is strong in politics, ideology, ethics, organization and cadres, associated with building strong, exemplary, comprehensive agencies and units, strong and excellent organizations that operate effectively, in accordance with their functions and tasks.

Continue to effectively implement the 4th Central Resolution on strengthening Party building and rectification; set good examples in implementing regulations on setting examples and implementing revolutionary ethical standards of cadres and party members; step up the fight to prevent, combat, stop and repel signs of degradation in political ideology, lifestyle ethics, and internal developments .

At the same time, thoroughly grasp Ho Chi Minh's military ideology; the Party's policies, guidelines and resolutions, especially the military, national defense, foreign affairs guidelines and the Fatherland Protection Strategy in the new situation; build a revolutionary, disciplined, elite and modern Military Region Armed Forces.

President Luong Cuong requested to "firmly grasp, assess and forecast the situation correctly, advise the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense on correct, accurate and timely policies, countermeasures and solutions, contributing to firmly protecting the independence, sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity, seas and islands of the Fatherland "early", "from afar", maintaining a peaceful and stable environment for national construction and development. Continue to effectively implement the policy of adjusting the organization of the Armed Forces of Military Region 3 in the direction of "sleek, compact, strong and modern".

Focus on developing science and technology, innovation and digital transformation; improve combat, management and command capabilities in the digital environment. Maintain strict discipline, order, high solidarity and unity, innovate methods to improve training quality, combat readiness, promptly learn from recent and ongoing wars and military conflicts in the world to proactively and promptly adjust training content and methods, improve overall quality, strength, level and combat capability, ensuring that the Armed Forces of Military Region 3 are always ready to fight and fight victoriously in all situations"

The President requested the Armed Forces of Military Region 3 to continue to closely coordinate with local Party committees and authorities, lead and direct the successful implementation of local defense and military tasks; build provinces and cities into strong defense zones; pay special attention to building defense zones and performing local defense and military tasks in the context of implementing two-level local government; build a strong reserve force, strong and widespread militia and self-defense forces, as the core in effectively responding to and handling non-traditional security, political and security situations.
