Accompanying the Speaker of the Finnish Parliament, Jussi Halla-aho, were: Mr. Sakari Puisto, Member of Parliament, Parliamentary Group of the Finns Party, Chairman of the Committee on Trade; Mr. Atte Kaleva, Member of Parliament, Parliamentary Group of the National Coalition Party, Chairman of the Finnish Delegation to the Asia-Europe Parliamentary Partnership (ASEP); Ms. Inka Hopsu, Member of Parliament, Second Vice Chairwoman of the Green Party Parliamentary Group, member of the Parliamentary Friendship Group with ASEAN; Ms. Laura Kamras, Director General of the Department of International Cooperation; Mr. Sampo Saarinen, Advisor on International Affairs to the Speaker of the Finnish Parliament.
Speaker of the Finnish Parliament Jussi Halla-aho was born in 1971 in Tampere, Finland. Mr. Jussi Halla-aho holds a Master's degree in Russian Language and Literature from the University of Helsinki and a PhD in Slavic Languages and Cultures from the University of Helsinki.
In 2008, Mr. Jussi Halla-aho became a member of the Helsinki City Council. He has held various positions in international organizations. During the periods 3/5/2011-20/6/2012 and 16/2/2022-4/4/2023, he was a member of the International Affairs Forum.
From 10/10/2013 to 30/6/2014, he served as Deputy Head of the Finnish Delegation to the Council of Europe. He was a Member of the European Parliament from 2014 to 2019. From 9/2/2022 to 4/4/2023, he served as Deputy Head of the Finnish Delegation to the Nordic Council. From 21/6/2023, he became President of the International Affairs Forum.
In the Finnish Parliament, he serves as Chairman of the Administrative Committee and the Foreign Affairs Committee. He was a Member of the Finnish Parliament from 20 April 2011 to 21 April 2015.
Since April 17, 2019, he has continued to be a Member of the Finnish Parliament. He was Chairman of the Finns Party for the period 2017-2021. Since June 21, 2023, he has been the Speaker of the Finnish Parliament.
