On the morning of November 30, the 1st Congress of the Vietnam Fatherland Front of Ho Chi Minh City, term 2025-2030, with the theme "Promoting the strength of great national unity, joining hands and hearts to build Ho Chi Minh City for sustainable development in the new era, for the happiness of the people" took place in a plenary session with the participation of 500 official delegates.
Attending the Congress were former Politburo member and former President Nguyen Minh Triet; Secretary of the Party Central Committee and Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Tran Luu Quang; Vice President and General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Nguyen Thi Thu Ha, along with representatives of leaders and former leaders of the Central and local levels; Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, Heroes of the People's Armed Forces, and Heroes of Labor.
Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Tran Luu Quang acknowledged and commended the Vietnam Fatherland Front of the City for promoting its role as the political core, accompanying the Party Committee, government and people, closely following the direction of the Central and City Party Committee, effectively implementing tasks, especially in social security, social supervision, consolidating the great solidarity bloc and creating a foundation for the sustainable development of the City.
Instructing the Congress and the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the City for the new term on issues that need attention, the Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee emphasized that solidarity must be demonstrated through actions in life, movements must become self-activities of the residential community, people must see their rights, roles and responsibilities in each activity. Movements must be practical, sustainable and linked to people's lives. Each movement has visible results with new approaches and attractive content so that the Front must be the flag that gathers people's hearts, so that people's trust in the Party and the government can be consolidated sustainably.
Mr. Tran Luu Quang requested that the supervision and criticism work of the association must be substantial, not evasive, not done on behalf of others, and not formal; supervision and criticism must not only reflect in general terms but must focus on the core and key points; recommendations must be practical, feasible, and pursued to the end.
The city needs to focus on monitoring major projects and important decisions, especially the implementation of Resolution 98 on the special mechanism for the city's development; monitoring public ethics and service spirit of officials and civil servants; providing in-depth consultation on reforms related to urban planning and social security with the principle that monitoring must be in-depth, criticism must be well-founded, and recommendations must be responsible and constructive.
The City Fatherland Front needs to continue to deploy high-tech applications to create a digital interactive ecosystem for the people, be active in digital transformation, not only to modernize its work but also to change the way it gathers and grasps people's hearts; patiently listen, courageously correct mistakes and respond responsibly; strongly mobilize social resources to create Ho Chi Minh City with a new development space...
Vice President and General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Nguyen Thi Thu Ha suggested that in the coming time, the City's Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee continue to thoroughly grasp the direction of General Secretary To Lam at the Congress of the Party Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and Central organizations, and participate in solving major issues of the City.
The Fatherland Front needs to strongly innovate the content and methods of operation, emphasize the central role of coordination and unification of the Front's actions, ensure that socio-political organizations under the Front still promote the initiative and creativity of each member organization, shift from movements and forms to substantive results, strongly focus on the grassroots and take the people as the center in all activities of the work.
At the plenary session of the Congress, there was a program to introduce and launch the electronic information page "Ho Chi Minh City Digital Social Security Center"; launch the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the City, term 1, 2025-2030; award the Certificate of Merit of the Prime Minister to the collective of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City; commend volunteers participating in overcoming damage caused by storms and floods.
The Congress also passed the Resolution of the 1st Congress of the Vietnam Fatherland Front of Ho Chi Minh City, term 2025-2030, including the Action Program for the term 2025-2030 with 9 targets, 6 action programs, 2 key programs, demonstrating the high political determination of the Front system at all levels in creatively applying the Party's policies and guidelines in accordance with the actual conditions of the City in the new period.
On this occasion, the City's Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee received 37 billion VND from businesses to support the Fund for the Poor, the Fund for the Homeland's Sea and Islands - For the Frontline of the Fatherland and support to overcome damage caused by natural disasters, epidemics and incidents in the City; awarded nearly 33 billion VND in support to the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committees at commune, ward and special zone levels to carry out social security work during the upcoming Lunar New Year.
Previously, on November 29, the first Congress of the Vietnam Fatherland Front of Ho Chi Minh City, term 2025-2030, consulted 146/168 members to join the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City for the term 2025-2030. Mr. Nguyen Phuoc Loc, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City was consulted to re-hold the position of Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City for the term 2025-2030./.
