Established in 2019, the Social Work Team of Bai Chay Hospital (under the Quality Management Department) has become the first place to welcome patients when they arrive at the hospital. Here, friendly smiles, enthusiastic guidance, timely advice... have helped thousands of patients and their families reduce their initial confusion and anxiety. This thoughtfulness has contributed significantly to improving the level of patient satisfaction at the hospital. In 2024 alone, the satisfaction rate of inpatients will reach 99.85% to 99.96%, and that of outpatients will reach 99.92% to 99.99%.

In particular, the Social Work Team always pays special attention to patients in difficult circumstances. They work closely with clinical departments to obtain information about patients in difficult circumstances, patients with serious illnesses whose hospital bills are beyond the family's ability. Thereby, they proactively visit patients and their families to find out the level of support needed. In 2024, the hospital supported meals for 25 cases and hospital fees for 11 cases.

The Social Work Team in collaboration with the Kidney-Dialysis Department (Bai Chay Hospital) gave gifts to 2 patients who have been undergoing dialysis treatment for many years and are in difficult circumstances at the department.

The fundraising activities of the Social Work Group of Bai Chay Hospital have become a bright spot, playing a meaningful role as a bridge between kind hearts and patients in difficult circumstances. In 2024, the hospital mobilized over 200 million VND from organizations and individuals inside and outside the hospital to directly support inpatients in difficult circumstances. Notable are clubs and volunteer groups such as Thien Tam Hoa Sen, Hoa Huong Duong, Tu Tam, schools (Ha Long University, Nguyen Binh Khiem High School), businesses (Lion Vietnam, Pisa), Provincial Police, Provincial Social Insurance and many organizations, the kind hearts of individuals, families...

Ms. Ly Thi Hanh (patient of the Kidney - Dialysis Department, Bai Chay Hospital), emotionally shared: When I got sick, I was at a dead end because I didn't have enough money for treatment. During the 8 years of treatment, fortunately, the hospital's social workers always provided timely support, both materially and spiritually, giving me more motivation to overcome the disease.

In addition to material support, taking care of the patient's spiritual life is also emphasized. Programs such as Children's Day 1/6, Mid-Autumn Festival, free porridge, free rice, free haircuts, and gifts for disadvantaged patients on holidays and Tet have brought great joy and motivation to patients.

Mr. Luong Van Ky (Dam Ha district) said: During my treatment, I had many free haircuts right at the hospital. Not only did I get neat hair, but it was also a great spiritual encouragement. I hope there will be more programs like this to help us patients feel cared for, shared, and have more strength to overcome the disease.

Ms. Nguyen Thu Huong, owner of Quyen Linh Salon (Bai Chay Ward, Ha Long City), who participated in the free haircut, said: We have maintained the activity for the second year. Once a month with about 15 workers, we serve about 30 to 40 patients. Through this program, I also hope to spread the youth and contribute to helping patients have an optimistic spirit and love life to treat their illnesses.

Established in March 2024, the Hoa Huong Duong volunteer group (Ha Long City) has maintained the distribution of free porridge and rice to patients at the Oncology Center (Bai Chay Hospital) every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday morning. Ms. Pham Thi Hong Tuoi, Head of the group, said: I have long cherished the idea of ​​establishing the group. Initially, I shared with dozens of close friends, now the group has grown to nearly 200 members. I directly buy ingredients from the supermarket, then cook porridge and rice with my aunts and uncles from 5:30 am, and bring them to the patients. Regardless of rain or cold, everyone still comes in full. We just hope to contribute a little bit of our hearts to those who are sick. In addition, the group also mobilizes financial support for difficult cases of patients, donates charity clothes, members participate in quarterly blood donations and calls on the community to spread the spirit of "The healthy leaves cover the torn leaves".

Social work and volunteer activities at Bai Chay Hospital not only help patients reduce the financial burden, but also give them more confidence to receive treatment.
