The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Construction has just sent a document to the City People's Committee reporting on additional planning related to Cat Lai bridge (to replace Cat Lai ferry) connecting Ho Chi Minh City with Dong Nai province.

According to the report of the City Department of Construction, after many meetings between the City Department of Construction and Dong Nai Department of Construction, the two sides basically agreed on the plan for the Cat Lai bridge route to follow Nguyen Thi Dinh Street, in accordance with the Ho Chi Minh City Planning for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050 approved by the Prime Minister .

However, to conform to the current reality, the Department of Construction of Dong Nai province has adjusted the local deviation from the center of Nguyen Thi Dinh street by about 336 m close to Dong Nai river, to ensure a safe corridor for the operation of the existing Cat Lai port, facilitate construction and limit the arrangement of curves on the main span structure (cable-stayed structure), causing complicated technical problems.

Perspective of Cat Lai bridge connecting Ho Chi Minh City with Dong Nai

Ho Chi Minh City Department of Construction assessed that the design of Cat Lai bridge basically meets technical requirements.

Cat Lai Bridge, connecting Thu Duc City (HCMC) with Nhon Trach District (Dong Nai), is designed as a cable-stayed bridge with 6 car lanes and 3 non-motorized lanes. The project has a total estimated investment of over 7,200 billion VND.

However, it is necessary to continue to clarify the connection plan and traffic organization at My Thuy intersection, Cat Lai - Phu Huu Inter-port road intersection and the plan for vehicles entering and exiting Cat Lai port.

This plan will be completed by the Department of Construction of the two localities in the next steps.

Currently, Cat Lai Bridge has just been added to the Ho Chi Minh City Planning for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050. Therefore, in order to have a basis for preparing the Pre-Feasibility Study Report, the Department of Construction recommends that the City People's Committee assign Thu Duc City to add Cat Lai Bridge to the 1/2000 scale planning project of subdivision 6 of Thu Duc City.
