Transfer of aviation security tasks at Pleiku airport

On the afternoon of February 28, Gia Lai Provincial Police coordinated with Pleiku Airport to organize a conference to hand over and receive aviation security tasks.


Information from the conference said that the implementation will follow a roadmap with 2 phases of handover and acceptance of the task of ensuring aviation security at Pleiku airport, Pleiku city (Gia Lai).

Immediately after receiving the transfer, Gia Lai Provincial Police will deploy a detailed plan to organize, manage and perform aviation security tasks in a synchronous, tight and consistent manner.

At the same time, continue to coordinate with relevant units to organize staff training and build an effective coordination mechanism.

In addition, strengthen regular inspection and supervision to ensure aviation security is in accordance with regulations, bringing long-term effectiveness.

Phase 1 will be implemented from March 1 to May 1, 2025. The Provincial Police will officially take over the task of ensuring aviation security, be responsible for managing and operating the security system at the airport; complete the reception of personnel, finance, and equipment; organize training and professional development for the aviation security control force according to the standards of the Ministry of Public Security .

Phase 2 will be implemented after May 1, when the aviation security force organization model will be completed, officially operated under a new mechanism, with tighter control, in accordance with international standards, investment in system modernization, and application of advanced technology in security control and supervision at the airport.

Previously, the Ministry of Transport and the Ministry of Public Security implemented the policy of streamlining the organizational structure and improving the effectiveness and efficiency of state management, especially in the field of ensuring aviation security and safety. This task is in line with international trends and meets the requirements of the country's socio-economic development in the current context.

Pleiku Airport is currently a 4C-class domestic airport and a level II military airport. The airport includes 1 runway 09-27, a synchronous taxiway and apron system.

Pleiku Airport Passenger Terminal serves 300 passengers/peak hour, with a capacity of 600,000 passengers/year.

Currently, Pleiku Airport is operating medium-range aircraft such as A320 and A321 with domestic flights to major political and cultural centers of the country.

According to the planning of the Ministry of Transport, in the period of 2021-2030, Pleiku Airport will be a 4C airport according to the standard code of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and a level II military airport; capacity of 4 million passengers/year and 4,500 tons of cargo/year.

Pleiku Airport has 14 aircraft parking positions; aircraft type is A320/A321 and equivalent or lower; landing approach: CAT I.

Vision to 2050, Pleiku Airport will maintain the 4C airport level and level II military airport; capacity of 5 million passengers/year and 12,000 tons of cargo/year; total number of aircraft parking positions is 18 positions; aircraft type is A320/A321 and equivalent or lower; landing approach method: CAT I.
