After agreeing to part ways with coach Nguyen Cong Manh, Binh Duong Club appointed Nguyen Anh Duc as the "captain". The decision was made after a meeting on May 7. The Binh Duong team's leadership made a snap decision, because the team from Thu Dau Mot needed to ensure stability in the coaching bench before entering the most intense phase of the season.

Binh Duong FC has changed its "general" twice this season. Coach Hoang Anh Tuan left the Southeast team after a 1-4 loss to Nam Dinh in round 9 of the V-League. Assistant coach Nguyen Cong Manh was appointed as his replacement, but he only lasted 14 matches.

Mr. Manh announced his resignation in the press conference room after the 0-3 loss to Hanoi FC (round 19, April 19), but was persuaded by the team's leadership to stay in the meeting the following day (April 20). However, after the 1-3 loss to Ha Tinh FC that led to the team falling to 8th place, Coach Cong Manh once again asked for leave and this time the team's leadership accepted after an urgent meeting. Former striker Anh Duc was the one chosen.

Coach Anh Duc faces a big challenge at Binh Duong Club, when the team has used 5 coaches in less than 2 years. From young and ambitious coaches like Le Huynh Duc, Tran Minh Chien, Cong Manh to experienced ones like Hoang Anh Tuan, Nguyen Thanh Son, many strategists have tried their hand at the "hot seat", but all of them left because they could not revive Binh Duong Club.

Despite being invested with a lot of money and having many national and former national players such as Nguyen Tien Linh, Que Ngoc Hai, Vo Minh Trong, Vo Hoang Minh Khoa, Ho Tan Tai, Bui Vi Hao, Ha Duc Chinh... After retiring, Anh Duc attended a coaching course and obtained an AFC Pro certificate. With little coaching experience, it is difficult to expect Coach Anh Duc to immediately help Binh Duong Club improve. However, with a 1-year contract with Anh Duc, Binh Duong Club hopes that the knowledge and prestige of a "veteran" (Anh Duc has been with Binh Duong for 13 years) will help Anh Duc master the dressing room, harmonizing groups of players with high egos.

Binh Duong Club now needs to stabilize internally for the most important goal: the National Cup. Tien Linh and his teammates have reached the semi-finals. If The Cong Viettel and CAHN Club have to compete, Binh Duong Club only has to meet SLNA, a team struggling to avoid relegation. If they win against SLNA, the championship door will be wide open for Binh Duong Club. This is the lifebuoy that the team from Thu Dau Mot is aiming for.

For coach Anh Duc, the National Cup is also an opportunity for him to win his first title as a "captain". 6 years ago, young coach Tran Minh Chien helped Binh Duong win the 2019 National Cup after a 3-1 victory over Thanh Hoa. History could repeat itself with coach Anh Duc.

Because compared to V-League which requires a lasting level, the National Cup often has many surprises. Thanh Hoa Club has won the championship for the last 2 years, that is proof. In a specific match, Binh Duong Club can still concentrate to win. Therefore, Coach Anh Duc's mettle will be tested in the midst of many difficulties!
