Al Ahli are flying high in Asia's number 1 arena. |
After the third round of the AFC Champions League Elite Qualifying Round, Al Ahli officially made history in continental football with a 21-match unbeaten streak in Asia’s premier tournament. The achievement not only helped Al Ahli surpass all previous records for the longest unbeaten streak in continental tournaments but also affirmed their position as a dominant force in the region.
Al Ahli's unbeaten run began last season, when the AFC Champions League changed its name and format for the first time. That was also the season the Saudi club made history by winning the AFC Champions League Elite for the first time, beating Kawasaki Frontale 2-0 in the final in Jeddah.
Behind the resounding success is the tactical imprint of coach Matthias Jaissle. He has breathed life into Al Ahli's playing style since taking over the team. The young German strategist, known for his success at Red Bull Salzburg, brings a modern, disciplined but equally creative style of football.
Under Jaissle's guidance, Al Ahli maintained stability and showed explosiveness in decisive moments. Jaissle built a balanced squad, combining veteran stars such as Ivan Toney, Kessie, Mahrez and promising young talents.
Currently in the Saudi Pro League, Al Ahli is ranked 8th, 6 points behind the leading team Al Nassr.
