Binh Duong FC and Binh Dinh FC are two teams that have made personnel changes to their coaching staff at a crucial time, aiming for a breakthrough at the end of the 2024-2025 V-League season.

Can coaches Nguyen Anh Duc and Tran Minh Chien help their new team achieve its goals?

Binh Duong Club is unlikely to change.

The V-League is entering its final stages. Binh Dinh FC is currently second to last in the standings after 22 rounds. Meanwhile, Binh Duong FC is unlikely to achieve its goal of winning the league title as it trails the leading team by 19 points.

Binh Duong FC is considered one of the teams that frequently changes coaches. In just six seasons, the team has replaced 12 head coaches. Many experienced strategists such as Phan Thanh Hung, Dang Tran Chinh, Lu Dinh Tuan, Nguyen Quoc Tuan, Le Huynh Duc, Hoang Anh Tuan... have failed to realize the ambition of bringing Binh Duong football back to its top position on the V-League map.

Despite aiming for the V-League 2024-2025 championship, Binh Duong FC, despite recruiting numerous national team players, has failed to maintain consistent performance, lacking cohesion in matches and becoming a team battling to avoid relegation. It was hoped that coach Nguyen Cong Manh would bring a fresh start to Binh Duong FC after replacing his predecessor Hoang Anh Tuan, but the team at Go Dau Stadium has still been unable to improve.

A six-match winless streak in the V-League, with only one point earned, led to coach Cong Manh's departure from his position. He was replaced by former striker Nguyen Anh Duc, a key player during his time with Binh Duong.

However, in his first return to his former club in a new role, Coach Anh Duc also disappointed the fans. Binh Duong FC was held to a goalless draw at home by Quang Nam - a team considered weaker - in round 21.

Similar to his predecessors, Anh Duc commented that the Binh Duong club players lacked physical fitness and were not in good enough condition to play an entire match. However, what resonated most on Coach Anh Duc's debut with Binh Duong in the V-League was the criticism and disapproval of his role and authority as the team's manager.

After the match, many opinions suggested that coach Anh Duc lacked decisiveness in his decisions. Specifically, the situation where striker Nguyen Tien Linh twice refused to be substituted, negotiating with the coaching staff to remain on the field.

Explaining the situation, coach Anh Duc said: "Tien Linh has just returned from injury, so he is very determined and hardworking. I am both his older brother and his mentor, so when the players are determined, I can't stop them."

Having been a striker himself, Coach Anh Duc understands the personality, psychology, and emotions of a star like Tien Linh. However, the way he defended his player also drew disapproval from many fans. They argued that his "lenient" approach negatively impacted match results, team spirit, and discipline – qualities that make a team strong.

The V-League 2024-2025 championship is slipping further away from Binh Duong FC, and coach Nguyen Anh Duc hopes to contribute to his team's victory in the National Cup this season. The team from Binh Duong has reached the semi-finals of the tournament and will face SLNA on June 26th.

Binh Dinh Club faces the risk of finishing last in the table.

Similarly to Anh Duc, coach Tran Minh Chien accepted the offer to lead Binh Dinh Club at a time when the team was facing many difficulties due to a close relationship with the club. The V-League 2024-2025 is entering its final stages with tense developments, especially in the relegation battle, but the team from Binh Dinh province is consistently in second-to-last place in the standings.

After impressing with a runner-up finish in the 2023-2024 V-League, Binh Dinh faced economic difficulties and struggled to find sponsors. Many key players left the team, leaving coach Bui Doan Quang Huy with a depleted squad and lacking the strength needed to pursue higher goals.

In round 22, a 0-1 defeat against Da Nang put Binh Dinh at risk of relegation. Therefore, the management decided to change the coaching staff. Coach Tran Minh Chien took over, leading Binh Dinh in the final five rounds with the goal of helping the team avoid relegation. Meanwhile, Bui Doan Quang Huy moved to the role of Technical Director.

Mr. Tran Minh Chien previously coached Binh Duong FC and has experience with Vietnamese youth teams. However, the task of helping Binh Dinh avoid relegation in the last five matches is no easy one, as his team is depleted by injuries and has a squad of low-quality foreign players.

Binh Dinh FC's upcoming schedule is also not easy, as they have to face a series of strong opponents such as Viettel, Thanh Hoa, Hanoi Police, Ho Chi Minh City FC, and Hanoi FC. The team is in a precarious situation, and just one more defeat could push the "land of martial arts" club to the bottom of the table.

Both Binh Duong FC and Binh Dinh FC are in a relegation battle, needing to accumulate as many points as possible to secure a place in the V-League next season. Round 23 of the V-League will take place over three days, May 16th, 17th, and 18th, and will be broadcast live on FPT Play and VTV.
