What's inside the newly opened Vietnam Military History Museum?

On the morning of November 1, on the first day of opening, many visitors were present at the Vietnam Military History Museum to see with their own eyes thousands of artifacts on display, including 4 national treasures.

In a series of activities to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam People's Army, the Vietnam Military History Museum officially opened to welcome and serve visitors and offers free admission until the end of December 2024 at Km 6+500 Thang Long Highway (Tay Mo Ward, Nam Tu Liem District, Hanoi).

Currently, the Vietnam Military History Museum has completed phase 1 of the project. The museum's display system introduces thousands of artifacts, organized in a modern, scientific , and rich way, applying advanced technology of international museums such as 3D sand tables, information lookup screens, photo documents, automatic explanations and QR codes to look up information about artifacts.

The exhibition space is divided into 6 topics: The early days of building and defending the country; Protecting national independence from 939 to 1858; Fighting against French colonialism and gaining national independence from 1858 to 1945; The resistance war against France from 1945 to 1954; The resistance war against America from 1954 to 1975; Building and defending the country after 1975 to present.

The outdoor exhibition area introduces some weapons and war vehicles used by France and the US during the Vietnam War. It also displays weapons and equipment used by the Vietnamese army and people during the two resistance wars and the cause of defending the Fatherland.

In particular, there are 4 national treasures on display and preserved at the Vietnam Military History Museum, including: MiG-21 aircraft number 4324; MiG-21 aircraft number 5121, the Ho Chi Minh Campaign Determination map; T-54B tank number 843.

Mr. Siu Trul (66 years old, Chu Puh District, Gia Lai) was very happy to have the opportunity to visit the museum right when it opened. "I found the new museum very spacious and beautiful. When I saw the artifacts here with my own eyes, I found it very meaningful," Mr. Trul shared.

The artifacts at the Vietnam Military History Museum not only have historical significance but also have high educational value for students, university students, and those who research military history.

Overwhelmed by the Military History Museum in Hanoi

Mr. Luong Minh Cong (22 years old, student of Hanoi University of Architecture) was impressed with the architecture and exhibition space at the museum. "I am doing an exhibition about the military. When I heard that the museum was open, I came here to experience and learn more about the exhibition. I will come back many times to refer to the historical information here," Mr. Cong said.

With a scale of 4 floors above ground and 1 basement, a construction area of ​​23,198 m2 , a total floor area of ​​the main building of 64,640 m2 , the Vietnam Military History Museum is a particularly typical cultural work, a place to preserve and promote the quintessence of the nation's military cultural heritage, to meet the needs of research, study, sightseeing and cultural enjoyment of domestic and international tourists.

Part of the B52 plane that was shot down by the Vietnamese army and people in the sky of Hanoi is displayed in the main hall with the message that Vietnam loves peace, the Vietnamese people are friendly, tolerant, and humane.

The exhibits in Theme 1 space outline the process of building and defending the country of the Vietnamese people from the time of Hung Vuong, An Duong Vuong, the period of domination by the Northern feudalism until the Bach Dang victory (938) ending more than 1,000 years of Chinese domination.

Mr. Nguyen Phuc Hoa (75 years old, living in Nam Dinh) was moved when he saw the Jeep relic. "In 1973, Dong Ha (Quang Tri) was liberated, I went in there and recovered these two vehicles," Mr. Hoa shared.
