Teacher explains the incident 'mother doesn't pay the fund, child doesn't get to eat at the party'

Responding to VTC News reporter on the afternoon of May 27, Ms. Nguyen Thi Huyen, homeroom teacher of class 1C, Gia Luong Primary School (Gia Loc district, Hai Duong province) explained that "there is no way that the mother did not pay the parent fund so student N sat and watched his friends celebrate".

Three days ago, the female teacher organized a year-end party for 32 students of class 1C, with the participation of 4 parents in the class. The money for the party food, including 31 fried chicken dishes with french fries, sausages, cakes and other sweets, will be taken from the parent fund that the parents of the students had paid in advance.

This fund has 31/32 parents participating. Of which, student N's mother did not contribute to this fund.

When the homeroom teacher announced the party plan on the common zalo group, the parents, including N's mother, "had no comments".

What is your opinion on this incident?

During the party, N sat with her friends eating cake and other sweets. Although she did not have her own portion of chicken, N was still given sausages, french fries, and fried chicken to share with the two friends sitting next to her.

At the parent meeting on May 26, Ms. Huyen also publicly discussed the incident so that parents could understand and admit their mistake in not informing N's parents privately.

"I also simply understand that when I have informed, the parents read the message very carefully and understood, so I will not inform them again. I also texted to ask if the parents had any comments but I did not see any information exchanged between the parents," Ms. Huyen said.

Ms. Pham Thi Ly, Principal of Gia Luong Primary School (Gia Loc District, Hai Duong Province) informed that the school has asked teachers to write a report and specifically report the incident "mother does not pay the fund, child does not eat at the party" to the Department of Education and Training of Gia Loc District.

Class 1C collects two types of funds: class fund and parent fund. At the end of the year, the class fund is almost gone, so the parents agree to use the parent fund for the party. The parents of student N pay the class fund, but do not pay the parent fund.

Student N still gets to eat cakes and candies like his friends, but he shares the fried chicken and potatoes with another student. Regarding the reason for not buying more chicken for the child, the principal said "it was the teacher's fault. The teacher admitted her mistake for not being flexible."

The principal said he had asked the homeroom teacher to learn from this incident.

Regarding the above incident, Gia Luong commune leaders also requested Gia Luong Primary School to review and re-examine fund receipts and expenditures. Commune leaders also requested the school to clarify the information and invite N's parents to work to get the most objective information.

The Department of Education and Training also reported the incident to the Ministry of Education and Training.
