The information was introduced to the press by the Vietnam Stage Artists Association and the Department of Culture and Sports of Ninh Binh province at a press conference held on November 11 in Hanoi.

Accordingly, the 6th International Experimental Theatre Festival in 2025 will have the participation of 19 professional Vietnamese art units and 9 international theater art units, bringing 29 typical experimental plays.

The Organizing Committee held a press conference to introduce the 6th International Experimental Theatre Festival, 2025.

Dr. Nguyen Dang Chuong, Permanent Vice President of the Stage Artists Association, emphasized that the highlight of this Festival is the participation of more than 1,000 domestic and foreign artists and actors - the largest number ever. This is an opportunity for Vietnamese stage artists to learn and contemplate to turn art and culture into a language of expression; at the same time, exchange experiences with international groups to transform stage life, and integrate with world stage art.

“Organized in 4 localities across the country, the Organizing Committee also creates conditions for socialized theatrical art units that are still facing many difficulties to have the opportunity to participate, such as units in Ho Chi Minh City, if they organize for artists (20-30 people) to perform in Hanoi or Ninh Binh, it will be very costly in terms of food, accommodation, etc. Besides, recently, the merger activities in localities, art units have also been affected quite a lot, facing many difficulties. Therefore, organizing this Festival, besides the story of sympathy, also creates opportunities for local audiences to enjoy theatrical works of international artists”, said Dr. Nguyen Dang Chuong.

Comrade Nguyen Manh Cuong, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture and Sports of Ninh Binh province, shared the preparations for the Festival.

The 29 plays participating in the Festival are diverse in art forms, rich in themes, including spoken drama, pantomime, physical drama, musicals, cheo, tuong, cai luong, circus, puppetry... and other art forms whose genres have not yet been determined.

Comrade Nguyen Manh Cuong, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture and Sports of Ninh Binh province, shared that this is the first time Ninh Binh province has coordinated with the Vietnam Stage Artists Association to host the International Experimental Theatre Festival. This is both an honor and a responsibility of the province. This is also an opportunity for Ninh Binh to introduce and promote the culture, land and people of Ninh Binh to domestic and international friends.

“Ninh Binh has organized many events of international stature and scale; at the same time, it is carrying out a great revolution when merging with Nam Dinh and Ha Nam. With a rich cultural and historical foundation, Ninh Binh has a new space, a new favorable and solid ground to promote cultural and historical values. For this Festival, we have closely coordinated with the Vietnam Stage Artists Association and related units to best prepare for the organization,” said comrade Nguyen Manh Cuong.

The festival will take place starting in Ho Chi Minh City from November 16 to 18; Hai Phong on November 18; Hanoi on November 19; the opening ceremony will take place in Ninh Binh on November 20 and will close on November 30.
