Job opportunities in Rubber companies

BHG - According to information from the Vietnam Rubber Industry Group (VRG), in 2024, the Group needs to recruit over 11,000 workers, of which over 9,500 are direct workers, do not require qualifications, suitable for rural workers, with an average salary of over 8 million VND/person/month. This is a great opportunity for workers in the province to solve employment and increase family income.

As of December 31, 2023, VRG is managing nearly 400,000 hectares of rubber; of which over 87,770 hectares are in Cambodia, nearly 26,700 hectares are in Laos, the remaining domestic area is over 283,400 hectares. VRG's natural rubber latex output in 2023 is 445,000 tons, the average yield is 1.59 tons/ha; the purchased output is over 75 thousand tons. Currently, VRG is investing in 101 subsidiaries with a total workforce of over 79,000 people.

According to VRG statistics, the labor force at the Group's rubber member units is decreasing year by year, with direct workers tending to move to industry, services, construction and retail. VRG's labor demand in 2024 is over 90,000 people, a difference of over 11,600 people compared to the number of workers at the end of 2023, of which direct labor is short of over 9,500 people, with the Southeast region alone needing to recruit about 3,300 people, especially rubber latex workers.

According to the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs, our province currently has nearly 558,000 workers, accounting for 62% of the population. Of which, the labor force aged 15 and over is working at nearly 531,000 people, accounting for 59% of the population; currently, there are over 67,000 workers working at enterprises and production and business establishments outside the province such as: Bac Ninh, Bac Giang, Hai Duong, Hai Phong, Quang Ninh, Hanoi , Vinh Phuc, Binh Duong, Dong Nai, Ho Chi Minh City... It is forecasted that each year, the whole province has about 30,000 workers in need of employment, not including tens of thousands of workers in need of changing jobs.

With a large demand for labor recruitment, not requiring high skills, suitable for rural labor conditions in Ha Giang, in recent years, VRG member companies have coordinated with the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs of Ha Giang to promote, introduce, and mobilize local workers to work as rubber workers. According to statistics, in 2023, the whole province has about 1,000 people working for VRG. Of which, rubber companies in the Southeast region have nearly 700 people, Ha Giang Rubber Joint Stock Company has 235 people. In addition to the official labor force, the company also annually employs about 200 - 300 workers who are households contracted to plant and care for rubber trees.

Mr. Do Anh Minh, Director of Ha Giang Rubber Joint Stock Company, said: Currently, the company is taking care of and exploiting over 1,510 hectares of rubber trees. Since 2019, the company has started to put the garden into latex exploitation. The company's operations have created stable jobs for about 400 local workers each year, with an average income of over 5 million VND. In addition to ensuring benefits for employees working at the company according to State regulations, employees also receive other benefits such as: Meal allowance; support for loading and unloading costs, collecting rubber latex; support for building union shelters; giving gifts to employees in difficult circumstances...

During a working session with provincial leaders earlier this year, Mr. Huynh Kim Nhut - Deputy General Director of VRG, Chairman of the Vietnam Rubber Trade Union affirmed: Currently, the demand for labor recruitment of VRG member companies is quite large, especially direct labor (rubber tapping workers), while Ha Giang's labor force is abundant and meets the requirements. The Group hopes that the province will consider including rubber tapping in the vocational training program, creating jobs for Ha Giang's workers. VRG will provide textbooks and send experts to support the training. After training, if there is a need, workers will be facilitated to be recruited to work for the Group's companies or work for other domestic rubber companies.
