Vietnamese players win all matches, excellently advance to the next round at the Korean World Cup

On the official opening day of the Seoul Billiards World Cup 2024 (November 4), Nguyen Dinh Luan was the first Vietnamese player to compete. In the opening match, the Vietnamese representative convincingly defeated Turkish player Ercan Aydin, with a score difference of 30-14. In the second match, which was also the decisive match for the ticket to the next round, Nguyen Dinh Luan maintained his stability and defeated Christian Latorre (Colombia) 30-16.

With a record of 2 wins and ranking first in Group G, Nguyen Dinh Luan has won a ticket to the second qualifying round of the Seoul World Cup 2024. However, the bad news is that Dinh Luan is the only Vietnamese player on the field on November 4 who can pass the first qualifying round.

Dinh Luan advanced to the second qualifying round with a perfect record.

Nguyen Hoan Tat was a highly-anticipated player, but he stopped after the opening day of the World Cup in the land of kimchi. Nguyen Hoan Tat had a good start when he won 30-5 against Takashi Oosawa (Japan) in the opening match of Group I. But in the decisive match for the ticket to the next round, Hoan Tat received a 21-30 defeat against the host player of Korea, Lee Beom-yeol.

With a record of 1 win and 1 loss in the first qualifying round, Hoan Tat finished second in Group I. Meanwhile, only the top players in each group (16 groups) will qualify for the second qualifying round. There are 2 wildcard tickets for the best second-place players, but Hoan Tat is not among them.

The remaining Vietnamese player to play in the second qualifying round was Pham Van Son. Van Son was eliminated after suffering two defeats, 8-30 against Park Duk-young (South Korea) and 14-30 against Denizcan Akkoca (Türkiye).

The second qualifying round of the Seoul Billiards World Cup 2024 will be held on November 5. In this round, the Vietnamese representatives are Nguyen Dinh Luan, Thon Viet Hoang Minh and Do Nguyen Trung Hau. Of which, Thon Viet Hoang Minh and Do Nguyen Trung Hau are the two players who were scheduled to compete from the second qualifying round right from the beginning.
